ObamaCare Rules Reward People Who Fudge Income

For some individuals and families signing up for ObamaCare, a little fudging can make a big difference in their bank accounts.

In California, for example, a childless married couple stating income of $30,000 would face a $1,000 deductible, $15 per primary care visit and a maximum out-of-pocket cost (after premiums) of $4,500.

But for a couple attesting to $32,000 in income, the deductible would be $3,000, primary care visit $40 and out-of-pocket maximum a hefty $10,400.

Though they are separated by just $2,000 in income, the government might provide the lower-earning family as much as $5,900 more in cost-sharing subsidies to defray deductibles and copays.

Even the cheaper of the two is ridiculously high for a childless couple.

The whole reason for 0bamacare is to give money to those who claim to have none.

I can see people declining pay raises so they don't hit the 32k threshold

I see barter becoming a huge market. Or exchange of product for labor. An IPAD for a house getting powerwashed, for example.

Yeah, it’s already huge. A lot of those folks in the ‘hood receiving govt benefits are also in the underground economy.
Food stamps trade for 50-70 cents on the dollar.

$30,000 would face a $1,000 deductible, $15 per primary care visit and a maximum out-of-pocket cost (after premiums) of $4,500.

And the premiums are left off, if I read the above correctly. So the definite cost is the premium x 12 (500*12=6000)

In other words, a young, healthy couple has to pay 6000 for something they might not even use, and if they do use it, they get no benefit until they pay the first 4500 and I'm not sure co-pays are left out of this, too.

yup. I recall reading somewhere along the line you lose all financial privacy ...not just medical.

This is be a reason for a surge in the underground economy and cash/barter sales and purchases.

Pretty bad. The higher the income the worse it will get.
