Study: Insurance costs to soar under Obamacare
CBS News ^ | Sept 26, 2013 | Kathy Kristof

New research from the Manhattan Institute estimates that insurance rates for young men will rise by 99 percent. Rates for younger women will rise between 55 percent to 62 percent, according to the right-leaning New York think tank.

The precise impact of the new health law is likely to vary markedly from state-to-state, however.

These differences mean men will get hammered in North Carolina with an average 305 percent rate hike, while women will suffer in Nebraska, paying an average of 237 percent more. For most people, subsidies in the law will not counteract the rate shock, says co-author of the study Avik Roy, a health care expert and senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute.

Insurance rates for old men will rise too

My Medicare Advantage doctor visit cost increased by 200%

The out of pocket limit increased by 28%

The drug cost increase is too complex to calculate

Obama care is, inspite of the current efforts in Congress

Did you intend to say “medium income”? Or should that be “median income”? —Just a math major seeking clarification.

And when this TAX is established, will the next TAX be for not buying a solar panel? A TAX for not buying a bicycle? Obamacare TAX is illegal.

I went to fill my my teenage daughters RX,doxycycline. $1100. I had to use some special card by the manufacturer that magically got it down to $10. I may be getting old but I remember getting giant bottles of tetracycline for about five dollars a bottle. I have driven down to Mexico and bought doxycycline for less than five bucks. Why is a really old and hardly cutting edge antibiotic costing this much? ( the generic was still 500 dollars)

Our people will move to reshape the government as we always do.

The people have already reshaped the government and this is one of the results.

I know in Indiana - some public school teachers got a raise - it was all taken by the pre-costs of Obamacare being implemented here...there are people left and right being cut in full-time hrs - people working 2 maybe 3 jobs that are all part time - and the wages suck — Reid and Pelosi thought this would be good for just 30 million to have Health insurance - screw everyone else for just a few....

...and we all sat by and let it happen.

Yes the point is that reshaping is a continual thing. The most recent change is undesirable of course - but that does not preclude future changes.

I mean who woulda thunk this much fight out of House repubs?

It’s swinging back. We’re center-right but 0bama took us hard left. We’ll all be pissed when it hits - which is what will add momentum to the swing back.

ObamaCare's success depends on convincing young people who previously chose not to buy insurance that they should now participate. I wonder how successful the "navigators" will be at selling this product to the young after nearly doubling the price from a level that was already too high.

You sound optimistic, but it’s incredibly hard to fix the problems of socialized medicine. It creates a dependency even greater than Medicare and Medicaid. Once Obamacare is fully in place, Mitt Romney’s 47 percent gang of moochers will look like pikers by comparison.

“Free” health care — paid for by the evil 1 percent — will never die. The English socialized system — with filthy hospitals and poor recovery rates — is locked in. The English people will never give it up. They are mind-numbed robots. But American low-information voters are not far behind.

Yes it is a worry. But I do have confidence in the smart, capable, and hard working of us. We will outsmart, out-do, and out work the lazy ones to beat it.

This isn't quite socialized medicine - yet. It's subsidized insurance. Insurance that is way too expensive with deductibles way too high for the takers to be happy with - once they find out about it.

Suckers.

While I do not foresee that, it is possible, just as it was in central and east Europe when the Commies took over.
I think Obama is quite happy to be rid of people like me.

As for those that say they intend to fight and save the country, I admire their spirit, but as Rush says, I live in Realville. America is not being attacked by a foreign power, but from its own ignorant citizens, who outnumber traditional Americans, and expanding at a much more rapid rate. Do these fighters really want another civil war?

As I have stated many times on FR, Marxist media and Marxist education have destroyed the traditional America.
We have passed the point of fighting the ignorant and stupid citizens. The election of Obumbo was a pivotal event. His reelection sealed America’s fate.

Something in the future may save the country, but it will be only by an act of God, but he does not seem to be talking.

I agree with you totally. The Dark Side has won and there’s no going back. If we had a conservative super majority in both Houses of Congress able to override a veto it could be stopped now, but you and I both know that’s not the case.

I’m afraid it’s done deal. We lost. The American people as a whole also have lost; they just don’t know it yet. And some never will.

Won’t be surprised if the rates are based on Red State, Blue State, That is how evil this Administration is.

Mine is not as bad.

Doctor visit up by 67%

I do not need at out of pocket limit at this time so do not know if it changed. It probably did.

Drug cost up 25%.

My wife's Advantage plan premium (mine is zero) went up 8% plus the increase in the Medicare premium.

Mehhhh... USA is still the best place to live hands down. Not by as wide a margin as in the 50s thru the 80s... but still. Our people will move to reshape the government as we always do.

Unfortunately, once the communists have "broken a few eggs to make an omelet", it's real hard to put back together the eggs.

305% increase in NC? Can’t be. The Charlotte Observer just ran a four page Sunday puff piece on how great Obamacare is going to be.

And you should SEE the opinion page!

Will all that I bet the rates in the exchanges plans are just teaser offerings. Later they will adjust them higher when the revenues they were projecting don’t meet the required sustainable levels.
The old bait and switch. Many will just opt to pay the IRS penalty. What a cluster goat copulation.
