CNN Poll Shows Media/Obama Losing Shutdown Battle

The con is on, folks.

Although a new CNN poll shows that across-the-board everyone will be blamed and damaged should the government shut down tomorrow, that is not the spin coming today from CNN or the rest of the left-wing media. Desperate to replay the '90s, even though today's poll says different, the media are working together to terrify the GOP into caving when what we really have is a situation where Obama is going to be much more damaged than a Republican Party that doesn't have much to lose.

According to the CNN poll, 58% believe congressional Democrats are acting like spoiled children, compared to 69% for the GOP. In other words, the public see both sides as losers, the GOP only a little more so.

In the event of a government shutdown, 46% would blame congressional Republicans and 36% would blame Obama. However, 13% would blame both -- which puts Obama only a point under 50%.

The media are attempting to spin these numbers in a way that makes it look as though the GOP will "bear the brunt of shutdown blame," but once you are at or over the 50% mark, it is all semantics. No one looks good and both sides are going to get hurt.

There is no question that the media's mission is to shape a reality that declares Obama a winner and the GOP a loser in the event of a shutdown. But both are looking like losers, which means a draw.

The alternate news sources today are much stronger than in 1995 when the last ‘shutdown’ occurred and the mythology since has blamed Newt Gingrich and his Contract with America Congress.

The media bias WILL be exposed as the true message filters through that republicans in the House have voted to fund everything but Obamacare which is either to be defunded or delayed.

Say it again, the true message that will penetrate the liberal media curtain:

THE FUNDS ARE THERE! THE FUNDS ARE THERE! THE FUNDS ARE THERE! The House has voted all funding except Obamacare!

The spin will go like:

WHY ARE YOU (the conservative anarchists) SHUTTING DOWN GOVERNMENT?

Answer: What? We funded it!

Flake ran as a conservative. Sigh...as bad as he is he is better than his dim rival would have been. Hope we can primary him out.

“can argue the case”

Corrected: “will argue”

You say it's lack of courage, etc. I say it goes even further. The vast majority of these Congresscriters have long ago lost the mental capacity to make the case for what is right. They are spiritually lost and they need to go.

They didn't spend their formative years touring Texas debating liberty and the constitution, as Cruz did. They are, by and large, Johnny-come-latelies to Conservatism, attracted by a host of other factors like a desire for power, prestige or an amorphous feeling that they could do their civic duty, without ever understand what that really entails.

Why would you say that? The GOPers are taking a great risk trying to stop Ocare. Your comment does not compute.

I had in mind John McCain and other of the GOP establishment who seem determined to undermine any efforts by Ted Cruz and the conservative Rebuplicans from stopping Obamacare.

It’s a CNN poll which means it’s skewered in the democrats’ favor. Plus, the GOP has it’s own polling.

Funny you should suggest that! Being from Nevada, I just called Scary Reid’s office and he STILL has his phone on voice mail from last week. I noticed his Mormon friends from Arizona and Utah didn’t cast a vote, which to me was a vote for Reid. I pray that people are watching this mess closely and making notes for the next election.

I just saw a glimpse of CNN and they are running a poll that says that 46% blame "Republicans in Congress", 36% blame "Obama" and 13% blame "both".

Same poll. IMO, the 46% number comes from low-information voters, who are CNN's primary viewers. The fact that they didn't cook the number to make it 87% blame Republicans and 13% blame both suggest that CNN forgot to turn the burner on under the number cooker.
