Mitch McConnell offers Plan C: Funding the government for one week while we continue negotiating That might work if the democRATs were actually negotiating. Truth is you're just delaying the inevitable, the caving of the GOP.

“Government shutdown? Nonsense. Only in our dreams will the U.S. government shut down. The current flap about an impending shutdown represents only the latest episode in the soap opera that stars the government as the hysterical teenage drama queen. For fiscal year 2013, which will end in a week, estimated federal revenue is expected to be about $2.7 trillion. In real terms, this revenue is roughly equal to the amount the government spent ten years ago, near the beginning of the Bush II administration.”

Send it to him anyway. Everything that makes the Democrats look even more unreasonable is worth the effort. Follow it up at 11pm with a one hour extension.

No, this is not Ted Cruz. But there may be a genetic connection. And certainly a philosophical one.
History buffs will recognize him instantly and all Freepers will as well. OTOH, this guy is unknown to most if not all Dems and, apparently, many formerly trusted Pubbies.

It is impossible to brace up the GOPe leadership for any length of time. It is worse than nailing Jello to a wall and the GOP can't win with this internal split. I think the leadership would be much happier being the token opposition as minority leaders than supporting the base and those who elected them.

Obama talks to Reid. Reid talks to McConnell. McConnell talks to Boehner. Republicans cave.

Why are they not calling for piecemeal funding? Because they are afraid that it might work?

If you don’t like the dance which Reid & Senate Democrats are doing, then change the music.
If, as predictable, the Senate removes the delay of Obamacare then passes the CR, then let the government shut down.
The new music for Republican Representative is “regular order” for each department’s budget. One by one, mark up the budget, removing climate-warming-hoax programs, reducing department budget to less than the sequestered level, and ratcheting-down the “x times the poverty rate” qualification levels for all entitlements. Oh yes, and remove all taxes to fund the Obama-care-nightmare, letting it run on a no-cost basis.

The political calculus of the Democrats favors a shutdown with the impact blamed on the Republicans in general and Cruz in particular. So, the worse the damage to the economy the better. It will make it easier to hide the Obama mismanagement.
A complete and utter humiliation of the Republicans would be just okay.
