Win or Go Home - A shutdown strategy for Republicans.
American Spectator ^ | 9.30.13 | Jed Babbin

Three cheers for the crazies. You know who they are. They’re Republicans in Congress who understand what Brent Bozell said about Obamacare: if you fund it, you own it.

These are the same people who led Washington Post columnist David Ignatius to cry crocodile tears for John Boehner because he’s unable to lead them into another reasonable “compromise” with Obama. Ignatius means, of course, a compromise that amounts to another surrender but with a smiley face painted on it. They’re people who refuse to be talked down to by Republican “moderates” such as John McCain and who aren’t about to be “reasonable” so long as that word is defined as giving Obama everything he wants.

These are people like Sens. Ted Cruz and Mike Lee. People like those who refuse to swallow more “moderate” compromises engineered by John Boehner to keep the government open. If these guys are crazy, count me among them.

Republican leaders are clinging to Boehner’s latest proposal for the same reason a drunk clings to a street light: not for illumination, but to keep from falling down. The latest proposal — to fund the government through mid-December, impose a one-year delay on Obamacare, and repeal the Obamacare tax on medical equipment — is more of the same. When House Speaker John Boehner announced that proposal on Saturday, the response from the Dem leadership was entirely predictable. They will reject it formally today.

The biggest reason Obama’s able to shun the Republicans is that the state-run media — ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, the New York Times and the Washington Post — have been marching in lockstep for so long, working hard to institutionalize the public’s view that any shutdown — and its supposedly dire consequences — would...

IMHO, Pat Buchanan had some good advice.

FIX BAYONETS!

Having provided a continuing resolution to fund the government, except Obamacare, the House should next begin passing CRs — one for each department. A CR to fund defense and veterans affairs. A CR to fund State, the CIA and Homeland Security. A CR for justice, transportation, energy, etc. One every day.

Would Harry Reid refuse to fund the U.S. Army and Navy unless John Boehner’s House stuffs Obamacare into the defense budget?

Do Republicans really feel incapable of winning this argument?

Are Republicans so tongue-tied they cannot convince America of the truth: They have already voted to fund the government.

If Republicans capitulate and lose this battle, and this unwanted mess passes into law, there is something deeply wrong with the party.

I think we need a “Liberty Amendment” that states that if any one government program/division takes more than 5% of the budget it should be it’s own annual spending bill that has to be debated on it’s own merits.

There should be at least 20 “individualized budget bills” per year that have to go through congress.

That might/could be a very good way of reducing government.

And prevent future “Hostage Taking” by certain political parties such as the DNC taking the whole budget hostage over Obama care...

And another thing. The Dems think they can paint the Repubs as losers and win the day. Let them prove it or let us prove them wrong. Time is on our side.

ObamaCare courtesy of OBayMe, Pelosi, Reid, et al. smells like Germany in the 1930s, ya think?

Of course the reasons the fight is in the house now is because those in the Senate lost it getting only 19 votes of 100.

If they fund it, they’ll own it. I agree. And when it all goes to hell in a handbasket and the people are really pissed, the media will be quick to point out that it was the republicans who caved and fed the monster.

The BS media doesn't need to. Boehner claimed to be a conservative. American Spectator and Human Events are free conservative websites. Boehner & Co. could at least check them out!

Pass a bill defunding obamacare and defunding the senate one full week for every partial day it misses work during the crisis, including weekends.

This focuses the problem like a laser on the senate’s intransigence.

Just heard Obungh*ole on the radio saying republicans shouldn’t shut down government because they can’t get 100% of what they want.

You are the one refusing to negotiate, Mr. Obungh*le, so screw you.

If the house sticks by their guns on this, they will get credit from me, even though I utterly despise them.

We’ll see how this plays out.

Do not back down GOP, you are out of chances.

“Gettysburg: 20th Maine bayonet charge at Little Round Top”

More like the 15th Alabama, trying to advance up a steep hill in the face of withering fire, and finally a 2 regiment bayonet charge from the enemy, with the mainstream media behind, cheering them on, then suddenly taking fire from behind, as well.

How is it 100% when the ‘pubs cut down on their demands the second time they filed the budget?

It isn’t.

Obama is a liar.

He and Reed are the ones shutting down government because they can’t get 100% of what they want.

And then he accuses the republicans of doing exactly what he is doing as usual.

This “man” is pitiful.

I laughed my a$$ off through his entire speech a bit agao just on how utterly ridiculous he sounded.

What a small “man”.
