Cracks are starting to emerge among House Republicans on their government funding strategy.
A handful of Republicans in the lower chamber on Tuesday embraced a clean continuing resolution (CR): Reps. Pat Meehan (Pa.), Jon Runyan (N.J.), Scott Rigell (Va.), Mike Fitzpatrick (Pa.) and Frank Wolf (Va.).
They joined Rep. Charlie Dent (R-Pa.) and GOP New York Reps. Pete King and Michael Grimm, who endorsed a clean CR earlier this week. A "clean" bill would not include provisions to delay or defund ObamaCare, and is supported by the White House and Senate Democrats.
In a Tweet, Meehan stated, I came to DC to fix gov't, not shut it down. Its time for House to vote for a clean, short-term funding bill to bring Senate to the table.

So what is the exact plan to stop Obamacare? Howe are they going to coerce the Senate and Obama to get rid of this?
This is not meant to bait anyone. I am genuinely interested in learning more of exactly how they plan on making sure that at the very least the most odious provisions of Obamacare - granted, chooisng the most odious is very, very hard to do - do not get forced on the American people?
Or for some in the House GOP, is it more about delaying it at this point?
America (badly) needs to start looking out for America first.
That’s all I’m saying.
Bring back US jobs now. To America.
We should be protecting American jobs with costs to import, taxes on imports.
Just IMO.
We have gone far, far too long selling out America.
Brink back American jobs, and American factories.
Why would they come back when they have to pay that much more for Obamacare?
Well quoted.
That seems to be the current mess, sending US corporations to COMMUNIST CHINA.
I’m just saying. Build stuff in America.
I believe one of the riders on the Senate bill would prohibit Gov't grants to any company that has a call center outside US territory
If they cave now, there is no opposition party and we are a one party nation.
Last one out, turn out the lights.
I'm glad to hear that. I first heard this on the local radio talk station WMAL, which is normally right-leaning. They were referring to Frank Wolf, who is a local Northern VA pol.
This is a very good start.
People, America needs jobs.
So you’re for government (i.e., taxpayer-funded) freebies if it involves something you may be eligible for and interested in?
Even if it involves a fascist nationalization of 15% of our economy?
Why are you here and supportive of the GOP rather than over on DU and backing the Democrats?
Is your healthcare provided by the government?
Mine is not.
No, but I’m self-employed and I can no longer get the plans I had in the last three states I’ve lived in. My options have at least doubled in price and of course Obamacare is just a planned, unworkable waystation en route to fully socialized medicine.
But that begs the question, have you no conservative principles and if not, what are you doing here?
Thanks OBAMA and you lousy stupid Democrats!!! -

No weather info -—
I’m advocating for American industry.
Bring back American jobs.
You should be able to find the weather data from weather channel website, no?
Someone needs to go over and punch King right in the head. See if it shakes some sense loose.
You never know, it could be worth a try.

Good. Clean his clock we don't need those kinds of "republicans"
Is this before or after the income tax credit? I'm curious about the impact on actual people. My pet theory is that this will stick the majority with large bills to benefit the minority. It's the kind of thing that should be easy enough to model, given enough time, but I haven't seen a study that breaks out the percentage of people who will spend more and how much more they will spend after the tax credits are factored in.
I am advocating for American medicine.
Mine is private, but if I lose my job I want a back-up.
You may have another view. I expect most people on this site are in agreement with you, though I also believe most of those people have a government plan.
I do not, that is the difference.
I am quite conservative.
