Fountain Hills man [who has cancer] dropped from health insurance because of new regulations

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ - A Fountain Hills man says he may soon have to get another job just to pay for healthcare insurance under the new Affordable Care Act.

Michael Cerpok, is a high school drop-out, one of six kids born to a school teacher, and doesn’t come from a wealthy family. He has run two businesses for more than 25 years and says he may have to do more to literally stay alive.

“I've worked hard because I've had to, and I’ve had to, because cancer runs in my family," says Cerpok, who picked his current health insurance based on that family history. His monthly premium is just about half of his monthly take-home pay.

Back in 2006, he found out he had an incurable form of leukemia that requires ongoing treatment until he dies.

In 2012, his treatment bill was more than $350,000. But because of his insurance, his out-of-pocket was only $4,500.

That’s about to change because Michael just got a letter from his insurance carrier saying as of January 1, he would be dropped from coverage because of new regulations under Obamacare. His doctor at the Mayo Clinic may be gone as well.

Gawd, the more I read on the impacts of obamacare the more it scares the hell out of me. I am pretty healthy but my wife is a stroke survivor and although she is doing good this obamacare could destroy us financially if things change for her health or my employment.

I think this is being published as a "Why we need government-run healthcare" story.
But I see it as a "How government involvement has disrupted the health insurance business" story.

So, besides the fact that Obama and the Democrats drove his insurance carrier to drop him, what exactly is his beef?

Is he pissed at Republicans? There’s no there there in this story...he’s sick and his insurance coverage is gone. This is what Obama and the Democrats intended. Does he think anyone else is to blame?

Wait, ABC (the LSM) telling the awful truth about Husseincare? Was gibt? Didn’t they get the memo? Is there trouble among the factions in socialist paradise?

Michael Cerpok needs to get hold of a Democrat Senator , genuflect properly, and get his help to register for Obama Care. The Obama Care system is working just as designed, to create a patronage system and to remove freedom.

I'm not so sure. If that were the idea, they could have done a lot better on the Any Private Company That Provides A Service For Money Without Pointing A Gun At You Is Evil...spin. They mentioned more than once that it was Husseincare that caused this, which normally they would have omitted. Unless they're so confident in the results of their work over the past decades they don't expect people to even be able to process it, so it doesn't matter if hide it or not. Or they're just incompetent, even at being tools for tyranny; that's always a good possibility.

This will just serve to move us to single payer. Stories like this will serve the left to agitate for more government intervention. The healthcare system has already been irreparably damaged by ObamaCare. There is no turning back now. John Roberts sealed our fate.

Hey...this whole Obamacare thing was supposed to eliminate this kind of recision activity. What’s the deal here? Why isn’t Obamacare working in this case?

Let me see if I have this right. Assuming the computer “gulches” have been fixed, Obamacare will work this way:

1. I sign on to either a state or federal exchange on December 31st, 2013 and hopefully before New Years Eve is over, I have successfully enrolled in Obamacare.

2. Beginning in January, 2014 I will send in a monthly premium determined by the type of plan I have selected………..anywhere from $195.00 to $550.00.

3. Then, every time I receive healthcare I will pay an out of pocket expense (a deductible) up to between $3000.00 and $6,000.00 each year.

4. Once I reach the deductible for that year, I only have to make a copay amount that could be between $10.00 and 100.00.

5. Now the good news. Let’s assume I am eligible for some subsidies. To receive those subsidies I will only have to wait until I file my federal or state income tax during the first three months of 2015.

Please feel free to add to or correct this process if you feel don’t have it quite right. My only disclaimer is the dollar amounts are for illustrative purposes only and the real amounts will vary based on the type of plan you select and individual demographic factors.

Yup, vote buying at it’s best. We really don’t stand a chance in this environment.

There are three paths:

1) Go back to the way it was <-- this pretty much never happens (though one could hope)
2) Keep Obamacare <-- stories like this one are making it clear that this would be a bad choice
3) Move directly to Single Payer.

Single Payer was really the only strategy they've ever had. Obamacare was a smokescreen. It was intended to be bad. Now it is failing and they need to "find another way".

Yep - we need more government to "repair" the damage that the same government has wrought. One would think that the long-suffering "silent majority" would be roaring by now....

And, of course, the reason ObaMaoCare will fail isn’t that it was designed to but because the evil Republicans underfunded it.

If Obamacare continues to suck anywhere near as bad as it does today, why would anyone in the general public say, "yeah, we just need to let the government do everything?" Why would anyone be onboard with that?

Again, that is what the majority of those that voted, voted for.

The people were not on board with Obamacare and the people were not on board with homosexual marriage.

The opinion of the people does not count. You get what you get, and the media tells you that you love it.
The slow progression to Single Payer is simply to make the story somewhat believable and convince people that voting is still somewhat meaningful. But it isn't.
