U.S. Representative Dennis Ross, a Florida Republican, said he would support a broad spending deal that didnt include changes to the health-care law, becoming the first Tea Party-backed House lawmaker to publicly back off the fight that has shut down the government for five days.
Ross, ranked among the Houses most conservative members by both the Club for Growth and the American Conservative Union, said he shifted his position because the shutdown hasnt resulted in changes to the Affordable Care Act, which started Oct. 1, the same day government funding ran out. The shutdown also could hurt the party, he said.
Weve lost the CR battle, Ross, referring to the continuing resolution to authorize government spending, said in an interview. We need to move on and take whatever we can find in the debt limit.

It seems to me that there are fewer and fewer Americans who are willing to stand their ground and fight for their principles these days.
Or, put another way, perhaps there are fewer and fewer principled Americans.
DUMBASS....we are WINNING!!! Call his LOCAL office and tell him to get a set!!
Atlas Shrugged gets one moment closer..........
“a Florida Republican”
WARNING WILL ROBINSON... WARNING!
Maybe he should just resign or, can he be recalled?
He should be ashamed of himself - "Oh my, we're losing - let's surrender, quick"
Good thing he wasn't in charge after Germantown, the sack of D.C., or Pearl Harbor....
If it gets that far, Ross is having a Town Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 15 in Lakeland, FL. I just think I’ll show up and ask a question or two, given the opportunity. I’ve always supported him, but this gives me pause. As it stands, he no longer is my Congresscritter because of redistricting, but he his a resident of my city/county.
whoa!! is this guy gonna get calls/emails LOL

++++++++++++++
I wonder what his basis is for making such a statement. I think we are winning the CR battle.
OTOH, if we hold out for enough time that it becomes clear that Obamacare enrollments are going to be so low that the program is doomed then a CR/Debt Limit deal might make some sense.
I really think that it is the cost of Obamacare that is deal killer. We may be able to set back and watch it die on its own with no need to delay that process.
Watch the Enrollment numbers. The Washington elite certainly are.
Snatching Defeat from the jaws of Victory, an old Republican Tradition. my new tagline.
Oh, Hell no!! That’s my congressman. He’ getting an earful Monday!!
Then he is NOT a member of the Tea Party, regardless of his claim.
Uh...no, this is the stand our ground moment. Cave now...we’ve tossed it all away. 0bama has to make the grand gesture here, not us.
