The Self-Inflicted Wounds of Bare-Knuckle Governing
Real Clear Politics ^ | Oct 6, 2013 | Carl M. Cannon

As the partial government shutdown headed into the weekend, Organizing for Action, Barack Obama’s permanent campaign operation, urged followers to use Twitter to send a message to House Speaker John Boehner: “Enough Already!”

Under James Carville, Paul Begala & Co., Bill Clinton’s 1992 campaign team had a series of mantras:

Define your candidate before they do. While you’re at it, define their candidate, too. Let no allegation go unchallenged. If the other side needles you, slap them. If they slap you, punch them. If they punch you back, punch harder. If they use a knife, use a gun. And don’t wait to play defense: If you even think they are going to attack, attack them first. Come to think of it, don’t wait—just attack them anyway.

Sealing up the Lincoln Memorial and the World War II Memorial—they are normally never closed—takes more federal manpower, not less. Democrats’ refusal to vote for Republican-sponsored bills that would keep the entire national park system open—as well as spending for the District of Columbia and veterans’ programs—what is that?

The answer came in a memo from White House Office of Management and Budget Director Sylvia Burwell providing guidance to federal agencies and departments. Aside from prefacing this Sept. 17 memo with a political talking point (Congress is to blame, not the administration), she instructs agency heads not to consider whether the cost of shutting down a government website is more expensive than keeping it running.

And that, not Tea Party intractability, is why Yosemite’s website has been down since last week.

The problem is that because of MSM support, the Dem talking points are being publicized, while the other side of the situation hardly mentioned.

The Tea Party was a good start but it needs to be revitalized and expanded to counter the left's Alinsky tactics.

This Administration, and by extension of control, this Government is a concoction of ideologues driven by one simple edict - destroy.

That is their plan, and they are hard at work about it. When they are confronted with logic and reality of their implementation of it and the proven examples that most of their implementations do not work, they simply pull a make-do solution out of their collective a$$e$.

Exemptions and delays - here, there - everywhere. Prosecutions, here, there - everywhere. Collusive media campaigns here, there - everywhere. All one great big debacle with one central theme - control of the human spirit. Religion, faith, logic, reason, basic universal freedoms given to us by God and affirmed to us by out Constitution all under relentless assault.

We aren’t going to stop these people with logic, reason and words. We are going to have to defeat them on a field of battle.

The problem is not the republican’s message. It is their medium. For the most part our spokesmen look like used car salesmen and smarmy divorce lawyers.

We need to get an injection of articulation and charisma.

Democrats: Define your candidate before they do.
Republicans: Wait until the last minute to campaign
.
Democrats: While you’re at it, define their candidate, too.
Republicans: Speak evil only of your base.
.
Democrats: Let no allegation go unchallenged.
Republicans: Turn the other cheek.

Democrats:If the other side needles you, slap them. If they slap you, punch them. If they punch you back, punch harder. If they use a knife, use a gun.
Republicans: Reach across the aisle, My Friend.

Excellent summary — this demonstrates why Republicans have a problem winning elections and they never learn.

Whoever coined the phrase “Democrats are the EVIL party and Republicans are the STUPID party” was right one.

I thought Cannon was a leftist. This article seems fair, objective and non-ideological. Was I wrong about him, or has Obama jumped the shark?

Please elaborate how that would work.

A US President that openly and actively breaks multiple US laws in addition to creating laws out of thin Executive Order air spurs reaction of many types. This is just one, but the disdain by the American citizen is growing. As time goes by and as Obama usurps more, so to will he responses.
