My apologies. What I presented was the Kenyan version of Fool’s Mate, not Scholar’s Mate. Which was what was intended, Dirty Harry and Zero-Zero So-to-ro being fools...and most certainly not scholars.

Obama's sorry, the park is shut down and nobody is allowed to play!

That reminds me of a great post I saved a while back when someone complained about Ohio voting on a state cookie:

Every minute the state legislature is spending on the state cookie is a minute they can’t do something elee. With that in mind, Ohio needs a state cookie, biscuit, cracker, low-fat cracker, candy bar, mint, breath mint, mint with a hole in the center, cheese, cheese with holes in it, really hard cheese that’s easy to grate, ....

(Sorry I don’t have the author. Maybe Lazamataz?)

“The game does contain a King.”
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Yes and the game is over when the King is trapped in a position from which he cannot escape. Interestingly the strongest protecter the King has is the Queen and if the Queen is captured by the other side her King is almost certainly doomed to defeat...hmmm. Normally the most numerous and relatively insignificant pieces which are called “pawns” are the first to be sacrificed to protect the more important pieces. Any and all other than the King himself are apt to be sacrificed to protect the King but in the end one King or the other will fall and even the winning King will lose many of his troops in the process of defending his kingdom. No wonder the game has been around so long, it’s life reduced to a board game.

The Fool’s Mate would have been more appropriate.
