NEWBURYPORT — Pat Vaillancourt went on a trip last week that was intended to showcase some of America’s greatest treasures.

Instead, the Salisbury resident said she and others on her tour bus witnessed an ugly spectacle that made her embarrassed, angry and heartbroken for her country....

For many hours her tour group, which included senior citizen visitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States, were locked in a Yellowstone National Park hotel under armed guard.

There is a community at Lake Mead where the land is on a long term lease from the Federal government, but the houses, garages, outbuildings & other improvements such as paving & utilities are installed & owned by the individual homeowners.

Guards have been posted there & residents were driven out of their homes & told they cannot come back to these homes until the shutdown is over.

The NFS & NPS are really going overboard. Obama told them to ‘make life as difficult as possible for citizens’. They have taken such to a new level.

I cannot think of any circumstance where a tour bus full of passengers could be held inside a hotel.

The guide paid a $300 permit just the day before?

Isn’t that ‘taking money under fraudulent conditions’.

I really don’t like lawyers, but the strongest shark lawyers need to get on this mess.

“How long will it be before one of these feral government thugs opens fire on a disobedient subject? “

How long before a group of armed citizens take these thugs into custody. or worse?

at this moment I am so PO’d by this article that if I posted what I am thinking I would either have govt at my door or I would be banned.

Suffice it to say that shunning will not work with these JBT

Believe me, many others feel the same way. We can't openly write about what steps we truly feel should "rightfully" be done.

I am reminded of Travis's fictional essay which includes the proper treatment of the MSM which helps compel them to simply report the truth.

We are witnessing raw tyranny. Obama and all support him are evil. (That includes Tom Hanks -- who states that Obama is the best President ever and deserves a third term)

“Seems like these ‘rangers’ aren’t the helpful and kind servants and conservators they like to portray themselves as. Nothing but a bunch of effing Nazi Government Goons, apparently.”

It all changes when you give them guns! Someone posted here the other day that “we should cut these people some slack because they are just a bunch of Biology Majors that love the outdoors and like to help people” My reply is “ just where did you leave your brain?”

Oh really? Just tell me.......why in the hell should any human being be deprived of looking at a God given natural wonder? Moreover, why in the hell does the US government “own” a God given natural wonder and who in the hell paid for it in the first place?

So you think it is ok that the government can restrict the amount of time someone can stay in a f’ing hotel or campground on land owned by WE THE PEOPLE?

This is no different than what the American Indian experienced when they were restricted from their land and put on reservations. What happens when the shutdown ends and we STILL aren’t allowed to view Gods land? Are you ready for that?

“We need to turn the National Parks over to the states or to private parties and abolish the Park Service.”

And how about also returning to all of the “western state,” the land that the Fed Gov exacted from the people in exchange for “allowing them” to become states. More that 80% of Nevada and 50% of California belong to the Feds.

The entire staff of the Nazi Park Service needs to be fired.,

In a just society, not only would they be fired, but their pensions would be revoked and ALL their assets seized.

'Sir, you are recreating'

I wish someone had this on video. Only a brainless bureaucrat could possibly utter such nonsensical crap as that.

This should serve as a wakeup call to all of those on this forum and elsewhere who suffer under the delusion that, when called to shoot American citizens, any significant portion of the government jackboots (at all levels) will hesitate, much less refuse. They won't.

They were not allowed to go outside because the park was closed...

Do you realize how silly that sounds? Holding a group of people in a building with armed guards at the door is not a reasonable thing to do in that circumstance. Nor is prohibiting them from stopping along the side of the road to look at the scenery and take pictures.

Closing buildings, or museums may be justified, but "closing" the outdoors, or the ocean, as was done in Florida, is just ridiculous.

As a thought experiment, consider how you would feel if some random person you were visiting decided that the lawn outside their house was "closed" and therefore you needed to stay in their house. And they stood at the front door with a firearm, ordering you to stay inside. I guess you'd be OK with that.

They were not allowed to go outside because the park was closed. You can dispute the extent of the tactics enforcing such an order, but giving guests staying in hotels and campgrounds 48 hours to leave doesn’t seem like an unreasonable restriction to me.

Huh? Our Founders would be repulsed by such a weak and pathetic comment.

Do you noy have the ability to understand that this Administration, if it knew it had the power, would likely exterminate millions of American citizens?

Do you not see tyranny before your eyes?

Please read the Founders. They viewed government as inherently EVIL...

As a second thought........I can only hope that an ADMIN MODERATOR, would tell you that you have 48 hours to leave this website and in the meantime, you can’t read, post or look around Free Republic. That doesn’t sound like an unreasonable restriction to me, does it to you?

Well, I called Ted Cruz and Cornyn (don’t know why I bothered). I also called Rand Paul. No point in calling my congressman because he’s a worthless Obamabot in Fort Worth. Kenny Marchant’s district is two streets away but he only wants to hear from his constituents, which really ticks me off, so I have no rep in the House.

I am going to refer to the armed agents of the illegal and abusive treatment of citizens and guests as VoPo — Volks Polizei, the East German DDR’s “People’s Police”. These tactics are more like those of a Communist dictatorship.

I actually do agree federal land rules should allow long term or indefinite squatting without a permit closure or no closure
The parks being closed during this shutdown is silly.
But requiring guests to leave an official provider that is not being serviced is an entirely reasonable order.

Anybody who could act this way is hated by a large segment of their community already, and have been for awhile.

There was a coup planned in 1938 but Chamberlain’s Peace in Our Time overcame the best opportunity. Later, Hitler replaced the real generals with ones loyal to Himself, and it became more and more difficult to orchestrate a coup.

It should be obvious that coopting the Armed Forces and armed feds of all types makes resistance more difficult. Our Armed Forces take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, not the Cdr in Chief, and take it seriously. But we can’t let Brown Shirt Park Rangers control and intimidate. It stops here and now.

I don’t get it. Why don’t we hear an outcry about how Obama and his people continue to live on government land during the shutdown?

If he can keep us off our own land, why do we allow him to live on our own land?

This is why it matters where your president was raised during his formative years. Any American raised person, even the low information types, understand that America belongs to the people and the government is our servant. Obama doesn’t get this. He thinks this is HIS land, His government, HIS troops, HIS country. He thinks he’s King, and can’t grasp another governmental model.
