House GOP eyes supercommittee to settle shutdown, debt ceiling
The Hill ^ | 10-8-2013 | Erik Wasson and Russell Berman

The House will vote as soon as Tuesday on forming a special committee of House and Senate members to work out a deal on reopening the government and raising the nation’s $16.7 trillion debt ceiling, multiple GOP sources told The Hill.

The move is an attempt to highlight what the GOP sees as a refusal by Democrats to compromise in order to end the budget crisis. It also echoes the creation of a debt supercommittee to resolve the last debt ceiling impasse in 2011.

Lawmakers will separately vote on legislation to pay essential federal personnel, including those working right now and U.S. Capitol Hill police, while the shutdown continues.

No one can snatch defeat from the jaws of victory like the GOP-E.

I will trade you a one year delay in the personal mandate for a three month extensions of the debt limit. Throw in the shutdown ends today.

Then Repuboicans use the mandate as their 2014 election tool.

Too bad neither of us will be on that super committee. It's going to work like the 9/11 Commission where the Republicans put almost all go-along get-alongs and the RATS put their attack dogs including the perpetrator of 9/11 from the inside, the detestable criminal, Jamie Gorelick.

Didn’t the last “super committee” recommend obummer’s sequestration which was so awful no one would consider it?

Let me guess, Ted Cruz will NOT be on that supercommittee.

I'll add another guess that Sen McCrazy and/or Linda Graham will be on the supercommittee.

Nothing good will come of a super committee. By the time they are finished, they will have raised taxes, printed money, increased spending, and waived the debt ceiling for 30 years. And, the media will play it as a huge victory for fiscal responsibility.

THEY SHOULD NOT DO IT.

There is NO reason for the Pubbies to cede control of this situation. And we damn sure do not need McCain and his ilk to go in there and give away the store.

Harry Reid wouldn't appoint Senate members to a conference committee to iron out the differences between the bill passed by the House and the same bill with the 0bamacare funding restored passed in the Senate.

Why would he agree to this?

Oh, don’t worry, Harry, you will have the votes of Ayotte, McCain, Graham (If he doesn’t have the vapors!), Cornyn, and other Rinos.

No problem with a ‘supercommittee’ as long as Cruz is the lead guy from our side.
