............Congressional Democrats are generally pleased that Reid has been calling the shots. They claim that Obama did not cut a good deal during the last debt-limit debate in 2011.
Now,Obama is front and center again. His press conference with reporters,which lasted more than an hour, was his first since the government shuttered last week.
Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin(Ill.)has criticized a short-term debt-limit increase as merely lurching to the next crisis.
“We’re not going to be in the situation where you’re lurching from crisis to crisis and putting the full faith and credit[of the government]at the hands of a Republican caucus that can’t get its act together,”a senior Senate Democratic aide told The Hill last month.
Another Democratic staffer,however,disagreed there is much daylight with the administration..........
Obama reiterated on Tuesday that he doesn’t believe he has the power to raise the debt limit,adding that litigation about invoking the 14thAmendment would hamper the economy.
Meanwhile,Reid plans to move a clean bill to raise the debt limit and Democrats think they will have enough votes to overcome a Republican filibuster.
Two Senate Republicans,Sens. Mark Kirk(Ill.)and Thad Cochran(Miss.),have told reporters they could support clean legislation to raise the debt limit.
A GOP aide clarified that Kirk would support a short-term debt-limit increase to give congressional leaders more time to negotiate. But he would not support the Democratic effort to push the debt ceiling beyond the 2014 election without significant spending reform,the aide added.
A handful of other Republicans remains undecided, including Sens. Susan Collins(Maine) Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) and Lamar Alexander (Tenn.).
“I’m going to listen today and make a decision when I hear what people say,” Alexander said.
“I don’t know. It depends where, when and how, and I don’t know that we have any of that signed at this point in time,”Murkowski said.
Sen. John McCain(R-Ariz.) said on Fox News he will vote no,........

1. have no clue where spending is supposed to originated
2. Believe Obama IS one who gets to decide what happens and that the Republicans in Congress are the bad bankers holding up the $$$$
3. See no reason, or benefit of a budget
4. Think the Constitution was written by a bunch of rich, white men that wanted all the power for themselves

This article points to a few things in play here. The most important is an apparent riff between the dem senate and the dem whitehut. Up to now, Reid has been publically calling the shots. I think this was engineered by the white hut to keep Obama above the frey. They now see a downside to that: Obama is seen as uninvolved while at the same time he will take total blame if the debt limit is not raised. In fact, his entire term of office will be seen as a dismal mess (albeit the rest of us know that already). The presser yesterday may have been bourn out of that worry. So, they trot out Obama to talk tough while at the same time taking back control of where this is going to go secure in the knowledge that Bonehead will cave in. Perhaps that is why Bonehead looked so calm in his own presser yesterday: he knows he will be tossed some bone, a meaningless one, and he can go back to his Scotch. Weed, er Reid, will follow Obama’s lead. If we get a cacaphony of individual mandate horror stories over the next few days in the MSM read that as a sign that the administration wants that fact out so Obama, the great benevolent one, will blame the bureauracy and say he has no other solution except to delay the mandate for sometime to get better organized. IMO, there can be no reduction in the medical taxes because the cost of the law is partially offset by these taxes which will give Bonehead the exit: delay Ocare, keep the taxes as they are and kick the deficit can down the road to the tune of 1 to 1.5T.

This supports my theory of why the presser yesterday, almost an ad hoc one. The whitehut was given these numbers before they were public and they must be running around up there like their hair is on fire....they know they are losing.
His approval will never go below 35%, it cannot. He gets the entire black vote, 13% and the committed commie vote of about 20%. That means he has lost the entire indy vote and bodes very badly for the mid terms.
The next week or so will be Obama’s last stand, hope he ends up just like GAC.
Sounds like Obama’s negotiating. Keep in mind that polls blaming Republicans or Congress are in the aggregate and people usually like their Rep, but not “Congress”.
All Obama’s poll numbers are personal and to the man. That’s a huge difference. Obama will have to come to the table, but delaying Obamacare should be off of it. Delaying it just insures it works better and becomes the law of the land forever. Let it crash and burn.
Now is the time to pivot and get long term spending concessions, perhaps even eliminating a department or two. Keep in mind that the Democrat designed sequester is what Obama and Co. really fear.
