AP Poll: Obama at 37% Approval
Hot Air ^ | Wednesday, October 9, 2013 | Ed Morrissey

Readers have to get halfway into the Associated Press report on its new AP-GFK poll to find this out, but Barack Obama’s job approval numbers have cratered in the shutdown. His overall job approval is now 37/53, and a majority want Obama to start cooperating more with Republicans, as 63% want Republicans to meet Obama part-way, too:

Americans are holding Republicans primarily responsible for the partial government shutdown as public esteem sinks for all players in the impasse, President Barack Obama among them, according to a new poll. It’s a struggle with no heroes. …

Most Americans disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job, the poll suggests, with 53 percent unhappy with his performance and 37 percent approving of it. Congress is scraping rock bottom, with a ghastly approval rating of 5 percent.

Indeed, anyone making headlines in the dispute has earned poor marks for his or her trouble, whether it’s Democrat Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, or Republican John Boehner, the House speaker, both with a favorability rating of 18 percent.

The amusing headline in this instance is “GOP gets the blame in shutdown.” However, the data shows that plenty of blame is being heaped on all sides, by all sides:

Did Stalin care about his poll numbers? Did Pol Pot?

"Summoned"? In our Republican government the co-equal legislative branch leaders are "invited".

I'm certain that's his word -- or that of his worshipers on the Left.

IMO he’s already cracked mentally it just matter of time before his handlers are no longer able to keep it private. (Closing the WH and keeping him reading the tele are all symptoms that indicate their attempt to control the issue)

With numbers like those, he might not get reelected.

NPR is just paying back the 400+ million. They are speaking to their choir, great.

Meanwhile, where the rubber meets the road, the whitehut is in panic mode right now. How best to dig out knowing the clock now is ticking against them. All Bonehead has to do now is just sit back and wait for Obami to break the log jam. However, don’t expect too much, pray for at least a delay in the Ocare bill. The Tea Party and Cruz just handed the GOP a kick ass win.

The disapproval needs to be higher than 53, but it is start, and vindication enough for his reelection.

The actual AP Headline:

“POLL: GOP GETS THE BLAME FOR SHUTDOWN”

So Obama could be at 2% approval and this would still be the headline. Until this travesty with media is ended, there will never be a change. They are the enemy in every sense of the word.

Good to hear.

Down at 37% we are getting closer and closer the progressive die-hards who say they want Obama to hold out and say ‘no’ even if it destroys the economy. They figure Obama-care wins if we dont have jobs.

On the morning Joe Carl Bernstein said this is all MSMs faults for not just blaming Republicans 100% for this.

Hey Sweden,

So glad people are catching on in Europe! I guess the media and the educational establishment there also make it difficult for any conservative view point to be widely expressed.

IMUhO

That decision was made some time ago and began to be implemented once the Senate refused to take up the defunding bill.

They took a shot knowing the main attacks could be directed at very specific failure targets after 1 October.

Obama's position is, No negotiation. You cannot meet someone like that part-way.
