Cruz: Send ‘search team’ if I don’t return from White House By Cameron Joseph - 10/11/13 10:53 AM ET

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) joked that he might not be seen again after Friday’s meeting with President Obama at the White House.

"After leaving here, I'm going to be going to the White House," he said at the Values Voter Summit of religious conservative activists. "I will make a request. If I'm never seen again, please send a search and rescue team. I very much hope I don't wake up tomorrow morning among the Syrian rebels."

The line drew big laughs from the activist crowd, which ate up his attacks on the Obama administration and establishment conservatives.

Members of the crowd also whooped when he mentioned heading to the White House, a sign many want to see him run for president.

Senate Republicans are meeting with Obama Friday to discuss how to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the government. Obama invited every member of the Senate Republican Conference to the meeting, including Cruz.

Cruz was one of the driving forces behind the call to defund ObamaCare in a government funding bill, which helped cause the shutdown.

The senator's poll numbers have taken a hit amid the shutdown fight. A Gallup survey released Thursday showed that 26 percent have a favorable view of Cruz, while 36 percent see him unfavorably.

The senator was defiant Friday and told the conservative crowd the battle over the healthcare law could be won.

"The greatest trick the left has ever played is to convince conservatives we cannot win. The media will tell us that believing in free market values, believing in the Constitution, believing in freedom are extreme views. It is a lie," he said to cheers.

I don't care what his poll numbers are nationwide. He's doing what I elected him to do. And he's going to be a pain for the liberal GOP and democrats for at least another 5 years.

Rats, MSM, and our own party.

‘The System’ is now set up to destroy anyone who is there to change the status quo.

Look how the lies are out from both sides that we can’t be ‘revolutionary’ and break apart the CR in pieces. This is what used to be an annual budget process until 2009. Now it is crazy talk to suggest it.

Senator Cruz, never forget the American people support you, this is why the WSJ/NBC had to manufacture (over sampling leftist)a poll that portrayed the American people turning against the GOP, then send this result to the echo chamber of old media to get the word out in order to despair the Republicans who are standing up against Obama!

I can't think of a single American where I am who buys this propaganda!

Cruz, stay strong, the American people will win this fight, Americans do not lose, it is NOT in their DNA, so stand strong, never give up, never retreat, and thank you for standing up for all Americans!!

He's doing exactly what the voters of Texas expect of him, and it's making John Cornyn very nervous.

The Dave Glover radio show, out of St Louis MO, is refers to him as Future President Cruz. And not in a mocking way or anything. And Glover is not exactly a fire breathing conservative.

This should put him in solid with the little islamist. I’m surprised he hasn’t been disinvited by now.

Exactly. CDS hit the left even faster and harder than PDS did. I sure hope he’s got good protection for his family.

Cornyn needs to import Juan to help him campaign.

Cruz is the best we have seen in a LONG time. Too bad he could not have been our candidate in 12, but 16 will do. He will be able to easily handle the slimy left wing press and make them look like the dufuses they are. After eight years of the idiot, Cruz will be a bright light at the end of the tunnel.

Provided of course that the idiot actually leaves office. That remains to be seen.......
