New Senate GOP plan would raise debt-limit until after 2014 election (3 women to Obama's side)
The Hill ^ | October 12, 2013 | Alexander Bolton

A trio of centrist Senate Republicans is pushing a plan to reopen the government for six months, extend the debt ceiling until Jan. 31, 2014 and make reforms to ObamaCare.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is spearheading the proposal along with Sens. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska).

It would address Tea-Party conservatives concerns over Medicare by delaying the medical device tax for two years and creating an income verification program under the Affordable Care Act to ensure only eligible individuals receive subsidies on the insurance exchanges.

The delay of the Medical Device Tax would be paid for by extending pension smoothing provisions contained in the highway transportation bill, MAP-21, that Congress passed in 2012. Pension smoothing allows the government to spread out pension losses over extended time periods.

Many Republicans, however, called for a full repeal of the tax.....

Hugh Hewitt thinks repealing the medical tax is a big deal.

It is but it’s been touted as the shiny object that will make all else go away.

Oh the weasel’s hard at work.

Despicable stuff. The Senate GOP preemptively surrendered with the cloture vote non-fight, left the House to take the heat alone and now only emerge to stick the knife in. They are scum on the bottom of the beltway cesspool.

Let’s remind the Senate that they are not the House and don’t get a vote on what the House INITIATES.

Stick to your guns, representatives! Hold the line.

Stop the out-of-control credit card spending by Obama & crew.

INSIST on a strict budget and a strict rate of expenditure. Period. Do NOT budge on that. No increase until such a budget and rate of expenditure approved until the next year’s budget.

The proposal doesn't extend the debt limit until after the election. Why did you put that in your title?

According to the article the proposal extends to Jan '14.

And, here we thought Ryan would be a conservative influence on Romney, if Romney were elected.

I’m so tired of being fooled.

“creating an income verification program under the Affordable Care Act to ensure only eligible individuals receive subsidies”

Wait a minute...aren’t the taxpayers subsidizing the health”care” of the “Parliment of Whores”? Are THEIR incomes going to be verified?

Ayotte, at the knee of McCain and Graham, was always the centerpiece of her earliest freshman photo ops, and she has cheerfully joined every gang of theirs since. Her camera face time has been exclusively used to push their agenda of compromise, non-stop.

Ayotte’s yellow streak has been glaringly obvious from the get-go, and no one had to warn us, or point it out.

Alaska has a bad democrat streak, obviously, and has generally offered no great support to the Constitution, nor to conservatives. Their senator typically wins and legislates by pushing their resources, and then turns over to vote with the Democrats on everything else. What a cushy, no-brainer job. The country needs a Republican to challenge that liberal streak there, who cares and can win.

Collins is a democrat straight out.

Primary, primary, primary.

I knew Collins and Murkowski were bought and paid for but Ayotte is the lowest form of scum.

I am going to say this. It will be a cold day in cowboy hell before I vote to elect anyone from Georgia who has the endorsement of Saxby Chambliss (the retiring traitor), nor anyone sponsored by the RNC or GOP - no way in HELL!

Further, I plan to support anyone not already an entrenched GOP politician for the primary on Johnny Isakson.

Whole new slate in Georgia, whole new ball game....I’m an old coot, but it’s someone with a family and not over 40 or 45 for me. The other good ole boys are all tainted IMO.
