Need evidence of Cruz's gains of late? He won the 2016 straw poll at the Values Voter Summit on Saturday with 42 percent of the vote and his speech at that gathering of social conservatives was received very warmly. He has become the center of gravity for a certain not-insignificant element of the Republican party. Cruz has proven that he will be

The GOP hates Cruz because he understands being a leader and fighting for the win. They find it oh-so inconvenient to be forced/shamed into standing tall for even a little while. Ted Cruz is the kind of leader who can count on his followers being willing to crawl through a 100 yards of broken glass for him.

The Values Voter Summit is hardly a tea party stronghold. Previous winners of this straw poll are people like Santorum and Huckabee.

The 21 hour speech is discussed. I had to edit for allowable text.

"Finding a way to put immigration in its political rear-view mirror, focusing on debt and spending rather than repealing health care — these are sound strategic goals for a Republican party that badly needs to re-imagine its national coalition in 2016."

In other words - The GOPe should just keep on with their losing Strategery, just kept repeating the mantra "Don't get a we-weed up, We'll get 'em next time".

The GOP senate and house leadership is filled with the sort of quislings that eventually destroyed the Roman Empire. Either they stand up as free Americans and fight for the
Constitution or the nation is doomed.

Simple - Cruz stood up for the people. The GOP didn’t.

" That sort of radical change leaves lots of victims in its wake. At the moment, the Republican party is one of them."

Yep, the GOPe needs Fundamental Transformation.

isn't ironic; that the Republican Party IS now (effectively) Defunct...
a casualty of Cruz's success.

Maybe it should now be known as the GYP. GOP is beyond expiry date.

One man with strong convictions and the courage to speak out for them = the majority of one.

People WILL follow conservative principles if those who believe in them just make their case clearly and well. Ted Cruz does both, believing and stating.

And conservatism is not just a product, it is a principled paradigm.

And probably the worst guide in the world for how to live your life, except for all the rest of the ideologies that somehow never measure up to the exalted expectations set for those doctrines.

“Tried and found wanting?” More like, “Found too difficult to reconcile with badly twisted philosophies, and left untried.”

Ronald Reagan was far from a GOP darling at first either. Ronaldus Magnus had his run-ins with the GOP-e. Remember the “I PAID for this microphone...” moment?!?!?! I say that we remain on ‘Cruz Control’ for a while longer and kick Mitch and Boehner to the curb.

How Ted Cruz won and the GOP lost

Well, to be fair, Cruz employed a brain, a spine, and a pair of testicles. You can't fault the GOP for losing to a guy armed with stuff they've never seen before. ;)

Cizilla quotes some consultant that says the problem with Cruz’ strategy is that it has zero chance of success.

And to support this supposition, republican politicians from Coburn to P. King are out there screaming that we can’t win because the GOP doesn’t have it in them to stick together long enough to score. “They’ll roll like pancakes.”

What they don’t understand is that THIS is why we despise them so. We can’t win because we can’t do what’ll it’ll take to win. So, vote for us, so that we can be in a position not to win next time, too!

There is a 100% chance that the Cruz strategy will win, IF they stick together.

Vote out all the small CRs that the GOP believes it needs to fund what truly needs to be funded, vote out a debt limit with a defund of Obamacare attached, and put the House in recess.

Tell Reid and Obama that we’ll call the House back in session after they pass the bills to fund government, but, with government closed, they see no need to hold their representatives hostage in Washington.

“While we wait on Reid and President Obama to act to end the shutdown, we believe the best use of our time in the House is to connect back home with our constituients.”

And then leave.

The House controls the purse and that means that the House controls the discussion. This idea that there’s a zero percent chance that we can win on this issue summarizes EVERYTHING that is wrong with the GOPe.
