Two things:

1. Once again a non-MSMsource explores an emerging major story. The drama of thousands and soon perhaps tens of thousands of real Americans voting with their feet to escape socialist diversity tyranny.

2. If the economy remains mired at the point where one in six are on foodstamps and nearly a third of the country is effectively unemployed and the political class use de facto amnesty to encourage an endless flood of third world people to come here normal middle class Americans will have little choice but to find places to fort up to not live in a third world hell hole.

I have never thought about the ID panhandle as the NW.

More of the Mountain West inhabited (partially by Nazis (Aryan Nation et. al.)) by isolationists, tree choppers and a couple of decent Ski Areas. If ID had no State Income Tax, I'd consider moving there.

You could move to Eastern Washington state, near the Idaho border; there’s no state income tax in WA.

Good point, Spokane has a number of Ski Areas too (and my historical access point to BC and AB skiing).

My only problem is that WA is a Lib voting haven and the lack of Income Tax is under periodic assault.

Eastern Washington is a lot different than the rest of the state. It’s actually an entirely different state in many ways! Spokane isn’t bad. I knew a gal many, many moons ago who came from Colville, WA. Small town - under 5,000 population.

I know that we sure do get a lot of former police and firemen moving here to retire, mostly from California - Mark Fuhrman being the most notable. I can think of at least eight that I know personally.

The Aryan nations moved to San Diego.
Tree choppers!?!?!? What do you wipe your butt with?
There is plenty of “civilization” here but isolation is very conducive to getting in touch with your spiritual side...you should try it.

Why is the Middle East Bureau reporting on this story?

LOL. Good question.

Slow news day in the Middle East perhaps? Gotta fill that webspace, after all!

I don't have any problem with chopping trees (they are renewable!), I do it all the time here at the compound to keep from being overgrown.

As a kid in the Scouts we used to chop trees to build structures and square rigs for canoes catamaraned up. Also to build a tripod water drilling rig using an axle shaft (the water table was only about 5 ft down). I enjoy wooden houses and furniture. Fires in the pit and fireplace too.

The only issues I've had are with downbound logging trucks.

I have told my granddaughter that she is young enough to see if the current trends of deliberate inundation by third world peoples, cultural marxism, and the general Mexicanization of the national political culture are irremediable. If so then do whatever is necessary to start or restart life in the belt of states running from the Dakotas to eastern Washington. The invaders and their American Quislings are not likely to ever be numerous there even though there are far to many damp Americans in the Boise valley and in central Washington (Yakima).

Maybe we need to re-structure Oregon & Washington. Make from the Canadian border to the California border west of the I-5 Oregon, & everything east of the I-5 Washington. A state named after our First President should be conservative!

"There is plenty of “civilization” here"

I always laugh at the week-long vacationers talking on their cell phones about returning civilizations as they are on the bus from Big Sky to the Bozeman Mont. A/P.

Bozeman is a Peoples' Republic and has most every accoutrement of American "civilization" that I can think of. Even 'Rat Senators.

I have had Survivalblog.com as a desktop shortcut for many years. I check in each day for JWR’s latest updates. My old butt is up in the Redoubt and I couldn’t be more happy about my retirement location!
