Senate Republicans huddled Tuesday to discuss the latest on the fiscal crisis engulfing the Capitol, but two key members of their conference were missing from the lunch: Ted Cruz of Texas and Mike Lee of Utah.
Multiple senators confirmed the absence of the two senators, who have led the crusade in the Senate to shred the presidents health care law.
I dont account for their schedules, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) quipped when asked about Cruz and Lees absence.
Cruz and Lee could become an obstacle to moving quickly on a fiscal deal in the Senate, where consent from all 100 senators is required for speedy action. Asked repeatedly on Monday evening whether he would object to an emerging deal in the Senate to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the federal government, Cruz declined to respond.

Did McCain give that sick little Peter Lorre "He he, he he" cackle before making that statement?
I don’t eat where it smells like poop.
> Yes. So?
Just trying to help you keep the feds off your doorstep...: )
Frankly, I can’t stand to look at pretty boy Rand Paul - he is a two-faced opportunist and can’t be trusted.
I heard Cruz say at 12:30 today that he wasn’t going to do anything to stop the Senate’s bill from proceeding. Did I misunderstand. If he & Lee vote No, does that stop the Senate bill from going to the House?
How many went to the lunch? 12? That’d be symbolic, except this time, Judas would be represented 12 times instead of once.
I get more swarmed than you can shake an obamahead snake at. Swarm right back.
Thing is, true intel is not a monolith block loyal to the won. Even if he thinks it is.
They prolly couldn’t stomach the cave in lunch with all the RINO’s. Who can blame them?
Well, there is an America’s Party already established.
There is? Too bad. Then run as Tea Party.
And it just HAD to be Alan Keyes. Grrrr..
> Thing is, true intel is not a monolith block loyal to the won. Even if he thinks it is.
I’d say he probably holds the record for number of people pissed off at one person on the planet.
FUJM. As much as I despise Obama, Pelosi and Reid I despise you more because you claim to be on our side. Once a loser always a loser.
The Liberty Party has already been used from 1840 to 1848.
That’s odd. I didn’t see Rand Paul mentioned once in this story, just like the other threads where you’ve been posting this message. There’s a word for that.
I agree with you the House GOPe leadership isn't 100% of the problem, or even 50%, but that's a long way from agreeing they are 0%.
Thank Senator McCain for you in depth analyses. I promise you this was a scripted cave in. I predicted it here a month ago. No political mercy on these bas^ards
“its time for a third party”
I’m beginning to think so... If this is what we get sticking with the not-so-grand old party, we might as well let it crash and burn, and rebuild from scratch.
The left has managed to take over the democrat party, we on the right are not making much progress taking over our party.
I’m in. Get enough of the big birds to do the same and see them all jumpng ship trying to get in.
On the one hand, we have the GOP House leadership -- which stood up for the conservative view until McConnell, et al, cut their legs out from under them for the third time.
On the other hand, we have the GOP Senate leadership -- which wielded the axe -- and a majority of the GOP Senate, which cheered him on (and took potshots at their own, who were on the walls).
Yeah, maybe the one has some problems...but the other is THE PROBLEM.
It's a question of priorities. If you've got but one dollar to contribute, it should go to primarying McConnell, not Boehner.
