In Tennessee, activists said they have seen a surge of enthusiasm for an effort to eject Alexander from office.

“This has energized people,” said Ben Cunningham, president of the Nashville Tea Party. “This confirmed our perception that we are going to have to replace people in Congress who talk conservative — and talk and talk and talk — and do nothing.”

Cunningham said activists’ focus on upcoming elections underscores how the tea party has transformed itself since it first emerged in 2009.

“We have gone from a protest movement to a movement about the nuts and bolts of elections,” he said.

> You must be talking about a different Tea Party than I’m dealing with.

I agree. They are even more active than ever. Many new alliances with other groups are forming including minority groups who see through 0’s racial division manipulation tactics.

And why should I be suckered into supporting a 3rd party when you wouldn’t lift one finger and get off your ass to put in the work to make it happen?

There was a “deal” on the government shutdown and debt ceiling?

Who knew that “kicking the can down the road” was still a viable political option?

I was of the notion that the road is pretty much a dead-end, and the barricade was fast coming up. And the acceleration is increasing at almost exponential rates.

I am looking forward to the balkanization of that territory once known as “the United States of America”. Then perhaps some of us may find a country to which we may once again pledge our allegiance and live in relative liberty.

The Tea Party needs to recruit new people and be open to new ideas to survive and possibly grow.

Find a meeting in your area and GO TO A MEETING!!

> The Tea Party needs to recruit new people and be open to new ideas to survive and possibly grow. I do admire the Tea Party people but they do not come off as accepting new people or ideas. Young people want this

I have seen and met quite a few young people that are constitutionalists that will be running for office later in their lives. I’ve been very impressed by them and even more so by their parents who led them down the right path in life

The opportunity is there. Form a group, make a plan, work the plan, execute the plan, and make it happen. Talk is cheap.

People here at FR who want this and are sincere and not just drama queens are going to have to put some skin in the game before people like me are going to sign on. Not just talk or fist pumping.

Agreed, so why should we be part of a Party that is so gutless and side with the Democrats? They are like the Loyalists during the American Revolution.

At this point I’m actually hoping the Dems get both the house and senate.

Wrong website. Try sumersoldier.com or sunshinepatriot.org

I say time for third-party with some reluctance. It WILL give the Democrats a period of unchallenged hegemony. But it is clear we cannot work within the existing GOP without being continually sabotaged. Better to start working for a solution in the distant future than to continually play Charlie Brown and the Football.

Eventually their hegemony WILL come to an end. As it did for the Liberals in Canada.

Damn the torpedoes, Full Speed Ahead!

Let’s do some quick math:

Current revenues: $2.4T or $200B a month
Debt ceiling was raised: $1.0T and will get us to Feb 7 (4 months)
So, the debt will increase $1T / 4 mos at a rate of $250B a month
With this they are admitting that they will spend $200B in revenues and $250B in debt for a total of $450B a month
$450B * 12 mos = $5.4T annually!
The worst budget in history was at $4.0T!
That is a 35% increase in spending!

How dare you! As a Tea Party participant, I worked to get a Tea Party conservative elected to Congress.

A third party? You want it right? What are you going to do to make it happen? I hear all the talk here, but never see the action. Each state has it’s rules about registering a 3rd party.

Get out and make it happen. Show us you’re serious about it.

The Tea Party needs to put up a simple platform and appeal to voters. Traveling to meetings is 19th century. Right now the Tea Party looks like every other lobbyist in Washington DC - Asking for Donations and mocking our president (who deserves it). This denigrates the message that has 15 items!!! Need to reduce to 3 ideas: Freedom, Constitution, America.

To tell me what I need to do or argue with me us NOT going to bring meinto the party! Appealing to them is the way.

Great. I’m proud of you. I myself infiltrated the GOP in my state 12 years ago and continue to work within it. This is why I don’t do third parties. Why should I when I’ve got primaries with a vehicle already set up?

You know, you’re right. My rant was a result of my disgust with the cave-in witnessed yesterday. No more excuses. Time for me to get up off my SkiKnee arse and do something besides whining. Thank you.
