Why We Need Both Sen. John Cornyn and Sen. Ted Cruz (Cornyn protection piece)
blogchron.com ^ | 10/17/13

Posted on 10/18/2013 5:23:40 AM PDT by cotton1706

Sen. John Cornyn has taken a lot of heat from the right for not supporting Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee when they filibustered a House-passed bill that would fund the federal government but defund Obamacare. It was a complicated mess, but anyone who has followed Cornyn’s career knows he has fought against Obamacare from day one. The difference here was a difference in strategy. Cornyn has been in the Senate for 11 years. Cruz has been in the Senate for less than a year. I think Cornyn knew that strategically this wouldn’t work, and he ended up being right about that.

Cornyn was a a state Supreme Court Justice and Attorney General before he was a Senator. He is calm and reasoned. Cruz was Soliciter General before he was a Senator, and he argued 43 oral arguments before the Supreme Court. He is used to arguing his point in a forceful way. Cruz campaigned on shaking things up. Cornyn has been doing the hard work for years. Cruz is a flamethrower. Cornyn is about rules and the rule of law. Cruz is about throwing a wrench in the works. Cornyn is about doing the right thing day in and day out.

I think both of them are great men. I think both of them care about this country very deeply. It’s unfair to call Cornyn a sell out for one disagreement on strategy and ignore his years of hard work for conservative causes. It’s also unfair for newspapers, like this one, to act shocked that Ted Cruz did exactly what he promised during his campaign. Do we need someone like Cruz in the Senate? Yes, we do. Do we need someone like John Cornyn in the Senate? Yes we do.

Yeah, right. We have to "unite" to reelect Cornyn after he "united" with McConnell and the democrats against Cruz and Lee.

But more to the point, why this piece?? Are there rumbilings against Cornyn??

Maybe Erick Wyatt and Dwayne Stovall are gaining steam.

This is the end of the backstabbing, carpetbagging,
RomneyCARE-imposing, impostor GOP led by
Team Cornyn/Rove/Romney/McCain.

No sentient conservative should ever trust them again.

Cornyn was on the right side of the latest vote. Is he feeling the pressure? Don’t know. There was no answer at his office the day of the filibuster, the days before the first in the latest votes, on which he was on the wrong side (that would be the side which takes our children’s future ‘earnings’ so these guys can have power)

I think we’ve had more than enough of these guys who would stay or get in power in order to side with the dems

And we can see them from a mile away

Reid might have pulled Cornyn’s NSA file on the desk and told him to read it before he aligned with the traitors. I have a feeling the Prez has blackmail files on every Congressional member and uses it whenever needed. Maybe its time to have a serious talk with Reggie Love and some of 0’s other Chicago butt buddies (if they are still alive)...Sooner or later someone’s going to step forward and the ball will be in his court.

“... Are there rumbilings against Cornyn??”

There must be. His campaign folk have already started ads here in the San Antonio area which is interesting because the election is still over a year away. Also there are primary challengers in the news.

In Austin, Cornyn is running campaign ads EVERY commercial break on radio stations touting his “conservatism”.

They’ve been ongoing ever since the cloture vote.

Do we need someone like Cruz in the Senate? Yes, we do. Do we need someone like John Cornyn in the Senate? Yes we do.

Why? To cancel each other out?

I know I’m not voting for him again.

I’m not going to vote for the dem, but I’m also not voting for Cornyn.

This is one Texan that’s had enough.

Sept 2009 - Author pictured with Ted Cruz "Two things struck me. One is that he understands the importance of being a good communicator, and he is one. The other thing is that he seems to be the only Republican running for office that I am aware of, that understands that the frustrations of the Tea Parties and townhalls are directed at Republicans as much as Democrats. As disappointed as we have been as Republicans in our leaders, Cruz brings the refreshing leadership that we have been looking for. He gets it."
