Rep. Steve Cohen: Tea Party Republicans 'Domestic Enemies' We Took Oath To Defend Against
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/19/2013 8:05:12 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Watch out, Alan Grayson: you've got competition when it comes to uttering the ugliest slur on Tea Party Republicans . . .

Sure, you've compared them to the Klan. But fellow Dem Steve Cohen has upped the ante. On Steve Kornacki's MSNBC show this morning, Cohen called Tea Party members of congress: "domestic enemies" that congressmen have taken an oath to defend the country against. Kornacki didn't challenge Cohen's libel, managing only to feebly observe that Cohen sounded "pessimistic." Think of it: a congressman has just accused many of his colleagues of treason, and the most you can muster is to call him "pessimistic"?

By implication, he has slandered every person who agrees with TEA Party principles - smaller government, lower taxes, no DeathCare, etc. Slander is a “high crime and misdemeanor” under the Constitution and civil tort, since it was not uttered on the House floor.

Is there a lawyer in this country who would undertake a pro bono case like this? Say $1 million to be donated to keep FreeRepublic going and resignation from office. It’s past time we started fighting back.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

I see “support and defend the Constitution” - - don’t see much about defending the country or government...

Ping to my list, asking for help on compiling information.

This is what needs to be said. In all the talk about “strategy” what got lost was that once the government is non-funded it is legally up to the chief executive (POTUS) to decide which “services” are essential and which are not. This means that we have the rare opportunity of seeing exactly what the priorities of the POTUS are. The continuing resolutions were all about taking the choice away from Obama - saying which things ARE DEFINITELY essential and should not be left to the President’s discretion to left unpaid. The House put forward CR’s to take assistance programs like WIC, military benefits, and America’s debts off of Obama’s chopping block so he could not choose to fund stuff like Planned Parenthood and NPR but refuse to pay our vets (for instance).

And what we found out was that Obama would spend MORE money than is normally allocated, in order to keep national monuments closed. He would spend money on Planned Parenthood and NPR but would not pay vets. Things that required no maintenance, like websites, were NOT allowed to simply continue but money was spent to shut them down. Amber Alert, cancer treatment, debt payment, etc are all considered “non-essential” by Obama, while the Obamacare roll-out (tons of money spent for a total failure), NPR, etc were considered “essential”.

We need to compile a list of what Obama axed, what he funded, and what he considered SO ESSENTIAL that he actually spent MORE money than was used when the priority wasn’t left to Obama - stuff like shutting down the monuments, state roads and turnarounds that would allow viewing of monuments, Amber Alert and other websites that required man-hours to shut down and enforce.

I am pondering whether Cruz and Lee gave up when they were informed that Obama was willing to end foodstamps on Nov 1, with the likely result that riots would follow in the major cities, enabling Obama to declare martial law and do a total end run around the Constitution. That signaled that Obama was truly wanting to inflict the MOST harm on this nation, and that his options could - and would - tear the country apart. This may well have been why Valerie Jarrett said that Congress would not get in the way after the 2012 election, and Obama told Medvedev he would have “more flexibility” after the election. They couldn’t get the country destroyed within 4 years so they had to hold back in order to get another 4. Now they are ready to go to phase two, which involves getting really serious about using the weapons available to a foreign enemy combatant in the White House.

What we need to do is expose to the public the fangs that Obama just exposed to Cruz and Lee. I’m asking help in compiling a list, with links to document what Obama funded, what he axed, and what he spent EXTRA money to axe. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Obama bared his fangs and it’s up to us to make sure that the media can’t hide that fact.

Kristinn, any insights you have about how this exposure can best happen would be greatly appreciated. If anybody has a ping list it would be great to ping as many people as we can so we get the best compilation possible.

He’s even got his cute Alinsky glasses on. If he had hair, he would look just like his idol Alinsky. Someone should post a side by side pic.

"...we take an oath to support the country against all enemies foreign and domestic, and these are the domestic enemies." - Steve Cohen, D-TN

Rep. Cohen and I have sworn the same oath on multiple occasions, and he obviously wasn't paying attention. We never swore to protect the county; we swore to protect the Constitution of the United States. Here is the exact wording of the oath:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

Ignorance is every bit as dangerous as treachery, and anti-Constitutionalist like Steve Cohen embodies both threats.

>>This. crap has become a regular part of conversation in this country.<<

Bingo. I rarely peruse the local paper online "comments" section, because it's always the same group of people bickering with each other - those on the left parroting the pabulum spoonfed to them by the likes of MSLSD. Last night, I noticed triple the usual number of comments in response to a letter to the editor titled Tea Party may destroy way of life... curiosity got the better of me...

I used to find amusement in the left's comments, and lack of knowledge regarding the Constitution. The tide has dramatically turned. The sheeple seem to truly believe we are a domestic threat. It's no longer amusing ... it's macabre.

I cannot say I disagree, Althou I have been out of the loop for a little too long.

We obvious have a wide assortment of targets the general theme of the ones you seek to go after being Obama’s judgement.

I do not know much of the current political winds but it seem to me we should address Obama’s threat to default on the debt rather than spend less than 1/10th the post ‘shutdown’ revenue to finance it.

As the democrats have been going after us both at home and abroad on this very issue we should not hesitate to point that out in question every-time we see them in every form. It was Like all theses other things Obama’s own funding priorities that WAS the crisis.

I feel like Im living through the Hitler era..being called terrorists, extortionists, domestic enemies..I think what the left wants is another Holocaust, except they want Republicans to be put in the ovens..I think nothing would make them happier than to see that happen

Pump handles were removed along a rail-trail bike route.

A news release from the C&O Canal Trust also added information about the park.

“Bicyclists planning rides from Pittsburgh to D.C. on the GAP (Great Allegheny Passage) and C&O Canal should plan to turn back at Cumberland,” the release said, and handles have been removed from all well pumps, among other closure operations.

I wonder if steve cohen went through the same kind of basic
training a lot of us, on this site, have? We took an oath
to protect our country and some have passed on doing just that. Some of us were lucky and didn’t pay the highest price. These cowardly elected make me sick!

We must be scaring the hell out of them.

The left knows that their "philosophy" is completely bankrupt, and they're unable to argue based on the qualities of their beliefs. Because of this, they have to rely on demonization. The useful idiots of the left don't understand that this is the way all tyrannical governments start their attack on "the bad guys." Eventually the leaders of the left will attempt to criminalize the dissenters, and eventually you wind up with "the killing fields."

How many people did Bill Ayers say would need to be murdered for his beliefs to come to fruition?

Therefore, the angry wookie's "lets move" web site stayed up during the "shutdown," while the Amber Alert web site came down. Barky's golf course stayed open, while open air monumens were "barry-caded." Barky's personal chefs stayed employed, while military death benefits were shut down.

Just a few of Barky's "priorities."

So, Rep. Steve Cohen (D) thinks the TEA Party folks are “domestic enemies”? [I take it as a personal insult that the TEA Party is lumped with “Republicans”. TEA Party members may identify as Republicans, but the Republican establishment and its RINOs hate the TEA Party as much as their Donkey co-conspirators.]

Congress is America's original criminal class, putz. If the American people are your enemy, Congressman Cohen SHOULD be afraid for his phony baloney job. What a doofus.

Apparently, Rep. Cohen either slept through his Civics 101 or skipped school. Cohen, you work for your constituents, and we can fire your sorry butt. It's time you became just another unemployed loudmouth.

Not sure it was Bill Ayers but the FBI under cover individual said the discussion was about 30-45 million needing to be killed to initiate their marxist utopia. As I recall. Nice folks. They will not stop until they are stopped.
