Selling the American people on ObamaCare was always going to be a big challenge. That's why it was passed all but in the middle of the night. Now, with the number of people who say they will opt out of ObamaCare and pay the fine instead growing - the selling of ObamaCare is only going to become more difficult, not less.

Contact payroll and tell them you want to change your W-4 so you have less automatically taken out of your paycheck.
So that you will owe income taxes.
I seem to remember doing that years ago—filling out the W-4 to make it so that I got a refund, back in my wage-slave days.

Here in Upstate New York, Excellus just cut out of a Medicaid & family program. 200,000 people are being dumped in NYS by them....most in Monroe County....a Dem stronghold aka a welfare city.

This assertion keeps popping up continuously the last several weeks.
Am I the only one who either understood (or misunderstood) the facts?
The $95 penalty, as I understand it, is just the first year penalty. From there, it escalates each year until it can be literally thousands$. Of course, that only applies to people with non-government jobs who pay net taxes.
The welfare component, people without a job (voluntarily or otherwise) and without assets, (the Medicaid and SSDI welfare population) will get total subsidies, so no effect on them now or ever...

Ok, but where do they get the money if you aren’t paying an income tax anyway? This has never been clear. They can impose fines on your REFUND, but I don’t see where they can get the money from you if you don’t have it.
Adjust your withholding and there won't be any money due in a "refund." No sense giving the government an interest-free loan anyway.

The text of the law only allows the IRS to withold the “tax” from a refund. There are many ways taxes are paid that don’t involve W-4s and withholdings.
