U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue suggested Monday that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) should reconsider his role as congressional troublemaker. …

A reporter followed up by noting that the conventional wisdom is that the business community wants the Texas senator “to sit down and shut up.”

“Well, that might be one thing we can work on,” Donohue quipped. …

“...he is able to separate the Pariahs from the Patriots just by breathing...”

Yeah, they’re crawling out of every closet and out from under every rock to get their sad, fat faces in front of a camera.

Go Ted, go!

Taking flak = Over Target.

Apparently, the Chamber of Commerce doesn’t represent small- to medium-size businesses, because the ones I work with are against national bankruptcy, which the Chamber’s leadership apparently supports.

They were created by William Howard Taft as a sort of “counterbalance” to the unions. What resulted is the USA’s version of fascism; they spend more on lobbying than any other group.

Yes, that’s what the Republicans do in Washington. They are very sure that it is the right tactic in bringing the media to their side and winning elections

Many conservative pundits have the same advice, B Bennett, Ann Coulter, Mona Charen, Brit Hume, Greg Gutfeld, Andrea Tantaros, Eric Bolling, for instance, have all stated that the reason thee dis spun away from the favor they otherwise would have placed on the conservative position in the shutdown fiasco and favored the democrat position was the WAY Sen. Cruz went about it.

It’s a sure winning position, to sit down and shut up, though they haven’t actually said to do that, giving themselves cover. They do not say exactly WHAT tactic he should have taken.that they’re so sure would have won everyone over, including themselves, so we can assume it was to sit down and shut up

If the constitution does not trump politics in a fight, then the whimpering stage of the republic will set in

They should get away from each other and study the constitution some time, with regard to what is going on

Approval and friends in Washington are what break a good champion of the people and their constitution.

If he doesn't like it, he can run for Congress.

The more I see of the list of those who despise Ted Cruz, the more I think he’s on to something real good.

Ted Cruz is proving to be just about as good a “barometer” as Palin has been. Any time I see or hear someone disparage him, or roll their eyes at him, or demonstrate a subtle grimace at the mere mention of his name... and it’s clear that said someone is NO ally of mine, politically, culturally, or ideologically.

Chamber President should shut up and resign in disgrace.

He does not speak for business any more than the ABA speaks for lawyers.

Rule #1 when responding to ANY reporter’s question:

“Never accept the premise of their question!”

Quote from above - I saw some interviews of Ted Cruz and he does this all the time. His initial response is that “I don't agree with the premise of your question”.

As a top national debater in College, to a (real) editor of the Harvard Law Review, to Supreme Court Clerk, to a Solicitor who argued many times before the Supreme Court, this guy is the real deal.

That is why they all are trying desperately to shut him down now. But, the more you see and hear him, the more common sense you here. There is an all out effort right now to de-legitimize him.

He has 5 more years in the Senate (unless he seeks another job...). Not going to work.

I have found the chamber to be an overpriced scam.

Their breakfast “networking” meetings are nothing more than an effort to solicit more suckers for overpriced memberships.

Well, perhaps Mr. Donohue can practice gargling a cold cup of STFU.

Yea, and maybe if that nut-ball Patrick Henry had just sat down and shut up we wouldn’t have had all that trouble with the British Crown!!

my email to this loser:

I thank God for Ted Cruz and the fact he’s willing to fight on behalf of the American people. Your insult of Ted Cruz insults me. I’m a business owner in this great country and for the head of the Chamber of Commerce to reduce himself to insult a patriot as strong as Ted Cruz is shameful.

You need to come out and publicly renounce your crude comments.

I wonder if the esteemed Mr. Donohue would ever say that a Democrat should sit down and shut up.

Talking Points Memo is a left wing blog written by an idiot and followed by idiots. Don’t believe anything written on it.

Not hard to believe that the head of the US COC agreed with a liberal reporter. Especially a US COC head that used to work for the USPS.
