Obamacare: Truth and Myths
ABC via Yahoo News ^ | Oct. 23, 2013 | Abby D. Phillip

These days, it can be hard to separate truth from myth when it comes to the Affordable Care Act. Opponents of the law have sought to discredit it by repeating statements that aren't backed by facts, while its proponents do their own stretching of the truth. Here, we demystify some of the most vexing questions surrounding the new health care law:

Myth: People are having difficulty signing up for health care everywhere.

It's been all over the news since the Affordable Care Act's marketplaces opened for business on Oct 1: delays, broken web pages and glitches galore. While there have been enormous difficulties for the ACA's health insurance exchanges, the problems have been largely confined to the 34 state marketplaces that the federal government runs. In 16 other states and the District of Columbia, the state-run exchanges seem to be working fine.

Some of them are actually doing pretty well -- at least when compared with the others. Kentucky has already enrolled 15,000 people in health insurance plans with few problems. And within two weeks, California said that 95,000 people had started applications for insurance.

"Between August and September the economy has added 691,000 full-time jobs, while it has lost 594,000 part-time jobs, according to the September jobs report."

Those aren't the figures I saw - I saw full-time drop by 560,000 and part-time rise by 702,000.

“Myth: People are having difficulty signing up for health care everywhere. “

People using the exchanges, including those who had private health insurance previously but were dropped due to the ACA, are having difficulty.

“Myth: The website’s’ biggest problem is the number of people seeking insurance. “

As noted, the website collapsed under the weight of only two thousand users.

Most of the “sign ups” documented so far are people moving from state-run Medicare programs to the federal one, not what is implied.

“Myth: Obamacare is leading to part-time jobs “

This effect has been obvious for most of the last year, accelerating over the summer. The article used only some very dubious numbers for September only.

“Myth: Employers aren’t changing the insurance they offer because of Obamacare. “

Millions have had their employer-provided plans dropped. Many more have had coverage/plans for their family dropped. Most have had their plans severely limited with available plans reduced or modified beyond recognition.

A major jump in price increases and plan attrition from the ACA have been occurring since 2010.

Myth: the media is biased for liberal Democrats.

Fact: if you racist, sexist, homophobic Tea Baggers were smarter, you’d realize this isn’t true.

Sounds more like a summation of the defense. Folks of the jury just look at those puppy eyes-—how could a set of teeth like that actually have stolen your bone?

Sober up ABBY!

Only “hundreds” have been able to sign up for a health care plan at the Obamacare websites. The Wall Street Journal reported:

Okay now we will try the landline # 1-800-318-2596 listed above or 1-800-318-2596 = 1-800-FAU-CKYO.

Inspite of the Daily ObozoScamScare Trainwrecks, the ObozoScamScare Outhouse Band continues to play on:
