Something in the 3rd week’s Q & A session of Hillsdale College’s Economy 101 Online Course caused a new thought about Liberals.
Why Liberals are willing to give up on the Constitution has always puzzled me. For years, I’ve believed that correctly informed Liberals would abandon their progressive agendas in favor of constitutional government. Part of my reason for believing this is that I observe many people who were once Liberal and are now Conservatives but rarely see a Conservative who is now Liberal.
Dr. Gary Wolfram offered an interesting perspective while discussing how change to a market system could occur in America. He referenced an observation in Hayek’s book, The Road to Serfdom. The observation was that perhaps some people are actually afraid to be free. The reason they are afraid is that freedom requires one to be responsible for their actions. He suggested we might have to maintain a social safety net at some level to cause people to engage in the market process. The fear of responsibility is the fear of freedom.
By-the-way, I recommend Constitution 101 and Economy 101
Freedom of Choice is what you’ve got.

Of course they are. Who’s going to take care of them?
I’ve been saying this for years.
Liberals are fundamentally insecure.
Liberals aren’t afraid to be free. They’re afraid of the rest of us being free.
Tyrants and their slaves are always afraid of liberty.
Recall that the Ancient Israelites when freed from captivity in Egypt - went to grumbling and lamenting about how much better off they were as slaves than risking liberty in the wilderness.
Human nature is one that demands the illusion of security and provision rather than opportunity to live life as God leads you.
Nothing new under the sun.
This people today on the Left are simply grumbling and complaining about freedom the same way the Ancient Israelites did.
Recall that the Ancient Israelites were allowed by God to be slaughtered and their remnant taken into slavery until they no longer existed and became ‘lost’ because they forgot their heritage.
Will that history repeat itself here?
We are well on the way.
One third of the spirits in the pre-mortal life chose to follow Lucifer because he (falsely) promised them that he could guarantee their return to heaven. They just wanted to be taken care of. Just like some mortals now on earth, and I suspect, in every age of this planet, they were afraid to fail. Promise to take care of them and they will do whatever you ask - including giving up all freedom.
The only freedom a liberal is interested in is the freedom to marry goats.
Liberals are actually quite lazy...they want the government to take care of people so they don’t have to.
The only kind of Freedom they want is Freedom From Responsibility!
How is this snippet of lyric, pro-abortion, pro-homosexuality, from more than 30 years ago relevant to this?
And, BTW, this is when DEVO’s music and originality began to devolve.

And, since true freedom is ALWAYS coupled with responsibility, it can be argued that they are afraid to be truly free.
Fixed it.
Also, left is don’t value freedom. They think it is empty rhetoric and don’t believe in it or understand it.
They think the freedom they have is a given and don’t think they would ever lose it.
..... Of course Liberals are absolutely in favor of FREEDOM ..... FREEDOM from responsibility!
