The Editorial Board of the ComPost could write for the North Korean Times. They love "penalties" that "drive people into a system" they don't want.

“Delaying the individual mandate is a bad idea” say the members of the Washington Post Editorial Board, all of whom,I'll wager, are exempt from its provisions.

The $95 penalty-tax is a miniscule part of the problem. These people are nuts (imo). Delaying a miniscule part of the problem or not delaying it won’t do squat.

The penalty against individuals lacking health-care coverage is a crucial tool in the effort to drive people into the new system.

Your papers, please.

"The penalty against individuals lacking health-care coverage is a crucial tool in the effort to drive people into the new system. Delay it, and you’ll get fewer people signing up in the first part of next year, and insurance companies will demand, with good reason, to renege on the rates they are offering for next year’s coverage."

Justice Roberts, are you listening? No "tax" here. . . . just a "crucial tool" for "driving" the youth of America to buy a product they don't want, in order to "redistribute" their hard-earned dollars to another set of voters.

Sounds like the Washington Post Editorial Board has pretty well summed up what those radical "Tea Partiers" were saying from the beginning!

It’s not a $95 penalty unless you make $9500 a year, above that it is 1% of your income, in 2015 I think its 2% and after that 2.5%

Editorial Board, you idiots, the issue is not the penalty. The issue is lack of coverage as of January 1

While marching over the cliff is a good idea.

Paging Lemmingcare. Sorry, I can't afford the package that includes the 200 foot drop but I can afford the 100 foot drop. Yes, I know there is slight chance I may survive the 100 foot drop but I'm sure that will add to the excitement on the way down.

Yes, yes...by all means ignore the 20 Dem senators calling for the mandate to be delayed.

We may end up picking up 10 of those seats.

Thanks. I’m wrong. I thought the $95 was the upper limit. This penalty-tax really does suck.

I keep hearing about this $95 penalty. Is this per month? Or per year?

It’s only $95 (month/year or whatever) if you make less than $9,500 for anything above that it is 1% of your income

My comment. “Like” it and cause much despair among the communist libtards.

Comrades, is impossible to delay implementation of glorious National Socialist healthcare rationing system. If Kulaks and other diehard running dog capitalists are not held to strict letter of law (as redefined daily by Dear Leader Obama) then entire system will collapse, because, comrades, let’s face it, system is built on fear of glorious State Security Services! Once National Socialist healthcare rationing system is running tip-top like Novosibirsk Rocket Factory, then commissars working day to night in NSA-IRS-ACA data hubs will be able to liquidate health rationing for last capitalist stooges, and soon these running dogs will be thrown on ash heap of history. But now is most risky time for plan to implement National Socialist “single payer” system, as laid out by Dear Leader in speech to unions of 2003. First is required to liquidate remaining so-called “free market” medical corporations, by forcing them to pay for even sickest comrades with “pre-existing conditions.” Once old capitalist corporations are dead and buried in graveyard of history, then on to first-class “single payer” National Socialist health care rationing for all good comrades! By next five-year plan, Dear Leader’s dream will be realized, and all good comrades will enjoy first-class health rationing system like enjoyed by comrades in Democratic Republic Korea, and Worker’s Paradise Cuba!

Even if it takes some weeks more to get the site in reasonable order...

Could they be any more clueless?

The Post is pointing out the fragility of the ACA house of cards. Any delay of the mandate will reduce enrollments of young healthy people while the chronically ill continue to sign up. The insurers’ business formula is based on the timetable in the law and on the penalties. Once Congress starts tinkering it will be at the expense of the insurers who would then be justified in raising rates or pulling out of the program. The White House most likely has a single payer amendment, already written, to replace the private insurance component of the law. Maybe it’s hidden in the 20,000 pages of regulations.
