In what could be the most bizarre development in the ongoing debate over the Washington Redskins nickname, TMZ reports that a neighbor of team owner Dan Snyder, Aris Mardirossian, has trademarked the name "Washington Bravehearts."
The report states that the trademark application filed by Mardirossian says that he plans to use the name for "entertainment in the nature of football games."
Mardirossian, who reportedly lives on the same block as Snyder in Potomac, Md., is an affluent patent investor who developed a relationship with Snyder a few years ago when the two men battled the county in an effort to cut down trees on their lots.

A state university in the former Indian Territory was known as the Redmen for decades. Recently, they came under PC pressure. They are now knows as the River Hawks.

Those pushing PC couldn’t care less about the mascots or team names. They just want to exercise power to make change — under the guise of social benefit.
Notice that it is always a ‘majority of a few’ that cause these changes against the ‘minority of many’. Notice also, that those making the most noise usually have little or no connection to the institution where they are trying to make the name change.
They get the name changed; they win. Next ...
Washington Sellouts. Every time they have a packed stadium, you can say the Sellouts sellout again.
Oddly enough, the year after the students at Scottsdale Community College named their team “The Fighting Artichokes” (really), with school colors pink and white, they made all-state.
So maybe the Redskins could be named something funny, demeaning, or politically correct, and become a winning team:
