He should’ve seen this coming
Richmond Times-Dispatch ^ | 10/26/13 | Michael Carroll

Posted on 10/26/2013 2:59:39 PM PDT by Captain Jack Aubrey

Editor, Times-Dispatch:

I am self-employed and I pay for my own health insurance. I assumed I would pay a surcharge for the Affordable Care Act every month. I assumed incorrectly that I would have the freedom to choose, that my future and security were in my hands. My insurance agent visited my office and asked me what provision of the ACA I wanted to sign up for. I thought he was kidding; he wasn’t. I do not have a choice. My policy will go from $325 a month to more than $900 a month, my coverage will be nowhere near what I have today and I must change my family doctor, eye doctor and dentist. My deductible will be as high as $8,000.

This act is now a federal law and there are no private insurance policies available — none — at any cost. I actually felt sorry for my insurance agent as I could see his frustration and weariness at having to explain this to his clients over and over.

My impression was that this act was to assist those who could not assist themselves, to provide help to those in need. I was fundamentally supportive and in agreement with this concept.

I should have seen this coming simply by the fact the lawmakers exempted themselves, their families and their staff. If a car mechanic will not drive a car after he performs major repairs, then the car is probably not safe for me and my family.

Why $900 a month for an inferior product? The middle-class citizen will carry this burden, the rich can pay cash, the poor pay nothing, and the folks in the middle pay everything.

Michael Carroll. Richmond.

And that goes double for all the "conservatives" who either stayed home, or didn't vote against Obama

Amen.

Let's laugh at all the idiot Obama voters' pain -- people who don't have a clue about the real world or the way it works. Let's laugh at their ignorance of the damage government causes. Let's commiserate about the loss of our liberties and freedom. Let's rebel against tyranny.

So correct. If they really wanted to take care of people all they had to do was simply expand the existing ‘single payer’ system known as Medicare(a problem in and of itself). This present monstrosity is about control with wealth transfer.

We already have that, it's called medi-care. Obamacare is just a huge power grab by a tyrant and a party of lying, communist thieves.

It's even turning out to be much worse than what everyone on the right warned about and it's only going to get much worse if it is not stopped.

What Mr. Carroll isn't saying is that he thought that the rich man would pay for the poor's health insurance. Not him.

Turns out that according to Obama, Mr. Carroll is the rich man. Surprise!

Has anyone stopped to think what even a $200 to $300 increase a month means to the average family?

Think about the amount of the average car payment.

Or if the family has a little more than barely enough to pay for groceries, house payment or rent, and car payment......this is the money that they would spend for their favourite hobby.

Or payments towards their boat or vacation trip.

My point is that beyond the cost of insurance, beyond the 29 hour work week, this law is going to have a devastating effect on the economy.

Not only because money that would other wise go for a new car, bike, vacation or whatever, a huge increase in taxes is inevitable.

The only good thing about this is that 50% of the people crying over their new insurance costs are people who voted for obumbler.

Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security are built on unsound principals. So would be amnesty.

Some generation eventually has to bear the enormous burden. Adding this was so unsound. But is was also a big hoax.

It is an enormous increase. the kind reserved for an upgrade in lifestyle or an investment. It is an IRA contribution $2000 per year sets some people up for old age when they can’t work - duh.

Really people just go along with his ideas with no evidence that he does not hate them.

Our country needs to pay for those who don’t work.

Well, [bleep], who is going to pay for these people who are working now when they hit 70 then live to 90. They aren’t planning for that? Why should I give up my retirement, where I pay myself for later I AM NOT working when I’m 80, and no one wants me to, for people who could fall into the category of: don’t work, aren’t American, loathe me out of bigotry, and who don’t take care of themselves?

-— I AM NOT working when I’m 80 _-—

For good or I’ll, we will only survive as clans, with multiple generations living under one roof.

That’s how the Polish side of my family survived communism, except the “one roof” was a one bedroom apartment.

Exactly! Instead of adding another unsound program just expand an existing one...you know, for the children.

-— And yet, they STILL won’t be able to figure it out. -—

They’re hopeless. Statism is their religion.

But this disaster should galvanize the working segment of the population. The LIVs won’t turn out at the mid-terms because, above everything else, they’re lazy.

And the GOP-e are gleefully rubbing their hands together at this man’s suffering, banking on him turning against the Democrats.

Irish too. Have lots of stories of multi generations in an apartment in the Bronx up until this third party payer came in in the ‘30s(?)

Exactly! Less money to spend on your family, is going to trickle down some more. All by plan. Then when the healthy, who need to get to a Dr. can’t, those that use a tremendous amount of services, are going to start seeing the Govt. calculate what the “value” of their life is. Rationed care. Then on to “rationed birth”. I don’t doubt at all the Feds will force genetic screening on parents and the “fetus”. If any defect is found, forced abortion because we can’t have someone born that by default will use more of Medical Services than they are “entitled” to. (that is entitled according to the Govt.)

Barry is changing America all right.

In this statement alone he self-identifies as a statist which leads me to believe if he did not vote for Obama he supports Obama’s intended political direction for this country. The issue if he cast a vote for the Liar-in-Chief is moot.
