What makes you think that the Israelis gave them these weapons? AQ is likely to steal these weapons because they are better than the Soviet era garbage that the Syrian Army is using. Letting the blame fall on Israel is an extra bonus.

Israel was used by the US to transfer arms to the rebels in Afghanistan. Russian arms captured from the Arabs, not identifiable as US, certainly not Israeli.

Quibble — Israel hasn’t ever had to resort to that, their not-too-neighborly neighbors have had the admirable habit of going Big Mo on each other, generally over territory/borders.

Why the disbelief? Netanyahu himself made comments supportive of rebels in Syria - there was a thread on here even. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. How do you say Operation Gunwalker in Hebrew?

When I was in the army, US, 43 years ago, a whole truck full of sleeping bags went missing. Nobody knew anything about it and investigators could find nothing out. It was, of course, all about money, because the Germans wanted them. That, American cigarettes, coffee and sugar were hot items.
