Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Thursday urged Virginia Republicans supporting Robert C. Sarvis, the Libertarian candidate for governor, to come home to the GOP and vote for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, the party’s nominee.
“I consider myself to be a libertarian conservative, a libertarian Republican,” Paul said in a phone interview Thursday. “A lot of things (Cuccinelli) talks about are free-market, limited-government, leave-me-alone government. I think there is a lot to like there.
“What I’m excited about in Ken Cuccinelli is that he is smart, he is articulate, and he has a keen sense of justice,” Paul said. Cuccinelli’s attempt to challenge the Affordable Care Act in court was “one of the things that catapulted a nationwide debate over the constitutionality of the health care law,” he said.
Paul, a potential Republican presidential contender for 2016, will campaign with Cuccinelli in Fairfax County and Virginia Beach next week. His visit to the state comes as the attorney general faces headwinds from members of his own party who have defected to Sarvis

Rand Paul can certainly support Cuccinelli, but I wish he would support Matt Bevin in Kentucky.
Instead Rand has endorsed Mitch McConnell for re-election next year.
That diminishes him in my eyes.

Those are hard questions we should ask of all elected GOP officials at all levels right now.
And here’s another. Ted Cruz tried to stop Obamacare and very few Republicans stood with him when he did. Fewer than half the GOP senators voted with him. Do you support what Ted Cruz did?
When they answer like Rick Santorum did today on “Meet the Press” that he supported the goal but not the tactic then your RINO meter should go over the top.
That is disappointing!
Has Cuccinelli brought in Ted Cruz to campaign for him or did he applaud Ted’s actions in trying to stop Obamacare when other Republicans wanted to cave?????????
The truth is there are two dynamics going on. Many voters don’t like either of them mainly because McAuliffe has been pouring the worst ads imaginable into the state. Really just flat out lying. I’ve been out door knocking for several weeks now and just today I found a handful of McAuliffe voters. One was a weak McAuliffe voter. An older single lady who I think I swayed the other way because she had been swayed but really didn’t know much about either of the candidates. One lady said she wasn’t going to vote but her son was voting McAuliffe. I had a few regular GOP voters who were a bit weak but the vast majority of those I encountered and talked to were going straight ticket GOP and they were very clear about it. The enthusiasm is clearly on our side.
I have little doubt though that many just aren’t going to vote. I fully expect turnout to be low probably no more than 35-40%. The key is that turnout is high enough in Central VA where I live and Southwest VA which McAuliffe has written off entirely. The Cuccinelli campaign has been ramping up and we have had the NRA and other conservative groups helping by running ads doing this home stretch. I’ve not seen the McAuliffe volunteers out at all in my area unlike in 2012. His strategy has been to bet everything on NOVA which has a lot of votes but leaves him in a very bad place if they turn out the way they did in 2009 which was only 33% to GOP 39%. All the polls showing McAuliffe leading are assuming a larger advantage for McAuliffe than has ever been seen in recent off year elections. The only poll I’ve seen that assumes a more balanced advantage shows Cuccinelli and McAuliffe essentially tied.
We will have some new polls this week I’m sure.
They appeared at an event together where Cruz effectively endorsed Cuccinelli but the shutdown complicated things and Ken had to navigate that carefully.

Ken is a not in favor of big regulations and big spending if that is what you mean about red ink. He opposed raising taxes for road construction and has opposed expanding Medicaid, and is running on cutting state taxes.

Horse droppings. It's the Republican's job to get libertarian votes. There's plenty of room in the GOP for libertarians, just as there's a Christian wing and a RINO wing.
So you're saying that libertarians should have simply held their noses for all those horrible Republicans who along with Bush spent like drunken sailors and did nothing to stop the spread of the federal gov't. No, Republicans lost in 2006 because their candidates stunk and the Dems capitalized on LIVs hatred of all things Bush.

Which is a very good reason that Republicans should pay attention to them.
This lesson is being learned the hard way in the UK where voters are beginning to desert the Torries for the UKIP over immigration and the EU. It does not take much of a swing to cause real problems.
the libertarians have never managed to get one of their mouth breathers elected to anything. they have managed to send any number of liberals to washington.
strictly speaking, the libertarians barely even exist. they're like subatomic particles; you have to infer their existence from the behavior of other things -- like everyone's healthcare getting taken away from them.

One of the few weapons that the Leftstream Media has in its battle to support the Rogue Marxist Obamanation Administration is the use of the “scientific” polls based on OPINION.
Several of their poll questions did not even mention Democrats or Reid.
Thus, jello-brains such as Santorum can easily be convinced that the Leftstream’s opinion on Republicans must be the way it really is.

There are good reasons to deride the Libertarian Platform and the liberal degenerates that wear the veil of libertarianism, but the stock complaint against libertarians here is often baseless drivel bearing traits of the fifth column.

As Radio Announcer Paul Harvey was fond of saying:
“WHEN YOUR OUTGO EXCEEDS YOUR INCOME, YOUR UPKEEP WILL BE YOUR DOWNFALL.”
And then they complain about how we have more socialism (and then they complain more about social conservatives-because they wrongly believe that social conservatives are “statists” (really I think these people just don’t like Christians-Jesus and the real God).
We will never jettison social conservative (that’s what the libertarians will never know), it would be like cutting off an arm (since most social conservatives lean libertarian as well).
Sarvis is a pro-tax, pro-Medicaid expansion, fake Liberatarian. A LINO.
