The link leads a Facebook group titled: Draft David Barton for US Senate. According to the page,

This group is set up to alert the grassroots that there is a movement taking place that would like to encourage David Barton with Wallbuilders to run for the US Senate against John Cornyn.

Currently, the group has 394 members.

I hope he runs since it would shed more light on his history lessons and other curious statements.

UPDATE:

Apparently, there is some buzz building about this idea. This supporter of Barton believes the rumors are legitimate. As of the morning of Oct. 29, the group now has over 1000 members.

I’ve always liked Barton’s books and stuff, just because I like anything that repeats the wisdom of our founders.

However, politically I’ve also watched Mr. Barton act like a political hack, basically lying for politicians like John Judas McCain and Mitt Romney, distorting their positions and records for the purposes of Republican political expedience.

Which, of course, soured me on him.

I’ll just stick to the founders, and leave others to purchase David Barton’s compilations of their words.

"...all too often he played fast and loose with history and some conservative Christians have called him on it."

THIS IS UNTRUE!; All the so called "Christian" and/or critics have been rebutted; many of them work on Lib blogs. As to "fast and loose"; they have been minor - VERY MINOR - adjustments to his writings. The truth is, David Barton scares the hell out of Libs because he can debate them and rip the tar out of them!

Are you one that stood out on not voted for any president in 2008? Because when Barton was supporting them; they were the Republican candidates at the time. And can you cite what "lies" he stated?

Liberty,

If you want to know David Barton's side of the story on the Jefferson Lies, here it is. http://www.wallbuilders.com/downloads/newsletter/DefendingTheJeffersonLiesDavidBartonRespondstohisConservativeCritics.pdf

Also, you will find that Warren Throckmorton is a Liberal hack that also posts on Salon magazine.

As you read his attacks on Barton you get that anti-Christian agenda coming across.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people that have been fooled by his critics that call themselves Christian and/or Conservative. Here is another David Barton statement on some of his other critics.

It's a shame that so many take criticism of him at face value; and do not even wait for a response from him

I heard some people have a problem with his “history books” whatever that means.

We need someone who can be called conservative to run against Cornyn, that is a fact

He published scorecards which painted McCain and Romney as the conservatives they have never been. In other words, he lied.

No. If the Republicans can't raise up candidates that don't violate my conscience, I do what I can to make sure there is someone who is supportable, someone who actually represents me.

You do believe in representative self-government, right?

Because when Barton was supporting them; they were the Republican candidates at the time.

Like that means anything any more.

So since you didn't have a candidate, you did not vote and helped the greater of two evils get into the office of the President.

"You do believe in representative self-government, right?"

Obviously the question for you is mute since you hold voting in such low esteme; so your question is meaningless to me.

I'm not saying what you state is untrue yet, but I am not going by only your word; cite me a source.

He is a good Christian conservative, great speaker, and a great journalistic debater; though I do not know his prowess as a debater under on air, in front of a public audience, condition.

So since you didn't have a candidate, you did not vote

I never said that I didn't have a candidate. In fact, I said the exact opposite. Reading comprehension problems?

So, to give you another crack at it, I'll repeat my previous post. I'll even bold it for you.

If the Republicans can't raise up candidates that don't violate my conscience, I do what I can to make sure there is someone who is supportable, someone who actually represents me.

"I never said that I didn't have a candidate."

Well you sure are being evasive; so you voted for someone that didn't have a chance? If you voted for someone else besides (hold my nose) Romney or (hold my nose) McInsane - it was the same as not voting. Guess who we got because of people like you! No person is perfect, and sometimes you have to go with what God gives us - the better of two evils. But you chose not to vote the better of the two and went with someone that did not have a chance against Obama wasting your responsibility to your vote.

So I'll repeat myself; obviously you hold voting in low esteem!

Nonsense. The very word “election” means choice.

Your position, that I must vote for someone who does NOT represent me, in fact signals the end of elections, or choice.

I believe in REPRESENTATIVE self-government.

And I don’t vote for evil. It does not represent me.

Since you do, and admit it, might I suggest that you quit whining because the country is going to hell in a handbasket.

Frankly, you’re part of the problem.

God didn't make that choice. You did.

I hold it in high enough esteem to not waste my vote on those who don't represent me.

If all follow your example, we'll get pretty much exactly what we've now got.

If others would follow my example, and only vote for candidates who represent the core principles of this free republic, everything would change for the better, practically overnight.
