President Barack Obama’s approval rating has declined to an all-time low as public frustration with Washington and pessimism about the nation’s direction continue to grow, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
Just 42 percent approve of the president’s job performance, which is down five points from earlier this month. By comparison, 51 percent disapprove of his job in office -- tied for his all-time high.
The NBC/WSJ pollsters argue that no single reason explains Obama’s lower poll standing. Rather, they attribute it to the accumulation of setbacks since the summer -- allegations of spying by the National Security Agency, the debate over Syria’s chemical weapons, the government shutdown and now intense scrutiny over the problems associated with the health care law’s federal website and its overall implementation.

Those events have combined to erase some of the advantage the president gained with polls showing most Americans blame congressional Republicans for the shutdown.
And for the first time in the survey, even Obama’s personal ratings are upside-down, with 41 percent viewing him a favorable light and 45 percent viewing him negatively.

I was a poll watcher in Loudoun County (Northern) Virginia for 12 hours last November. People were being bussed in and walked through the polls. They could barely speak English and certainly couldn’t tell you their addresses. Which did not appear to be in the precinct where they showed up to vote. The Dem poll workers just smirked.
We’re expected to navigate the tax code, but it’s too burdensome to produce picture ID?
I suspect that a huge number of the “low-information voters” have never heard the term “tarring and feathering” and certainly not in the historical sense. They lack comprehension.

You may be badly wrong about this. There is anecdotal evidence for your claim, but it doesn't show up in voting statistics.

I’m not so negative about this news. What matters here is the trend. Minds are obviously changing. And the change is happening on his personal approval, something much more difficult to reverse than job approval.
The conditions are right for the preference cascade to occur. Libs I know have been silent for sometime, and now seem to be embarrassed by him.
It’s his character folks. It always boils down to character, and his is being revealed. And that’s bad for Obama, the Dem Party, and liberalism itself.
The media ignores that unemployment for young black men has been at Depression era levels since Obama has been president. Those men who voted for Romney wanted jobs.

Agree w everything you said. I’d just add one minor point. Another big reason the Dems cheat is because they get away w it—and pay no price whatsoever. Nobody raised Cain over the in-your-face cheating they used to get Franken in power. Nobody called Obama to task for raising millions—if not more—in foreign donations. The whole outcome of the election wd have altered if Obama had been nailed on his flagrant, wholesale law-breaking...but crickets is all we heard.
Dems cheat on a grand scale in broad daylight, & nothing happens. What do we even have a Republican Party Chairman for, anyway? What better way to inspire the party faithful/base, restore equity & Win More Elections than by prosecuting fraud tooth & nail? But it doesn’t happen. Why?

A few weekends ago I went to a wedding of a lovely young and very hip couple who served all vegan food (most of which was terrible), and among their guests, many of them naive liberal "entertainment" types, guess what was the main topic of conversation (where the bride and groom weren't present)?
