Calling America: Hello? Hello? Hello? Hello?
NY Times ^ | Thomas L. Friedman

Posted on 11/03/2013 7:26:05 AM PST by nuconvert

-excerpt-

Whether we were feared or loved, America was always the outsized standard by which all others were compared. --

excerpt-

Well, today, to many people, we look like the definition of a drunken driver — like a lifelong mentor who has gone on a binge and is no longer predictable. And, as for defining the future, the country that showed the world how to pull together to put a man on the moon and defeat Nazism and Communism, today broadcasts a politics dominated by three phrases: “You can’t do that,” “It’s off the table” and “The president didn’t know.”

Kind of like the US was under Peanut Boy.

Gas shortages, stunning interest rates, foreign policy fails, etc. I remember those dark days well.

With the all-out efforts of the MSM, the Baraqqi Regime was able to fake it past Nov 2012.

The next 3 yrs will be quite dismal.

By the end of the essay he’s drinking his Kool-Aid again.

“By the end of the essay he’s drinking his Kool-Aid again.”

Yeah, I know. It was good while it lasted, though

LOL

I always believed that Jimmy was sincere and incredibly inept.

Maybe I’m naive but I still see him apart (and above) from the Chicago Mob and the Clinton Crime Family.

The editorial conference room at this paper ‘of record’ must look like the kitchen of a family whose kid just got into some serious trouble with permanent consequences. And the lawyers are pacing

Please quote the end of the article, then, to me, since I will NOT step foot on enemy webturf.

If you cannot because of copyright restrictions, please send it to my mailbox here. Thanks.

I don't see this article as a criticism of Obama. I
see it as a criticism of conservatism and the Tea Party.

We don't have national health insurance, we don't have gun control, we don't have government financing of elections, and so forth. Friedman is a statist. Although he made some good observations in “The World is Flat,” almost all his policy recommendations involved more government spending, more government programs etc.

I cannot think of a single government program that Tom Friedman wants to reduce or eliminate. Quite a contrast to the other Friedman (Milton).

This call has been intercepted by the NSA, the party you are trying to reach is no longer available.

“Calling America: Hello? Hello? Hello? Hello?”

2 CHRONICLES 7:14

If MY people, who are called by MY name, will humble themselves and pray and seek MY face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

At the time that is what I thought too. Then I saw how he was reacting during Nixon’s funeral and there was just something that bothered me. Did some research, Jimmy is a small small man and given his age now, unlikely to improve. He actually seems to have gotten worse, but maybe it is just that he isn’t as good as hiding his malevolence as he was when he was younger.

I was nodding my head in agreement until I got to this:
or where we just had a minority of a minority threaten to undermine America’s credit rating if we didn’t overturn an enacted law on health care; or where we can’t pass even the most common sense gun law banning assault weapons after the mass murder of schoolchildren?

Well it was good while it lasted.

Yeah I thought it too good to be true so I linked to the article, Friedman has no sense of direction and has no compass, and he didn’t miss the opportunity to blame Bush a little.
