Forget the shutdown: Job creation surged in October despite dimmed expectations from the impasse in Washington.
There were a net 204,000 new jobs created for the month, though the unemployment rate rose to 7.3 percent
The numbers easily topped economist expectations of 120,000 new nonfarm payroll jobs for the month, though it matched estimates for a slightly increase in the headline jobless rate.

We have one of those big Amazon warehouses here in cent Indiana. They bring on so many people for Nov/Dec that there is a whole string of traffic signals that are activated only for that period.
I’ve also seen one in Nevada where they have a park for retirees to come in with motorhomes and trailers and work that period.
Well, it’s kinda hard to bulk-up your retail staff for Christmas AND keep them all under 29 hours without doing a good bit of hiring.

Golly. You mean, if less money is being pumped out and allocated to a segment of the economy that produces nothing, and fewer regulations that hinder businesses are being created during a brief (partial) shutdown for non-essential workers, that the segment of the economy that actually does produce something can have a little room to grow?! Who knew!!
They’re counting the government workers who went back to work after the shutdown as new jobs created.
Utter lie. Take a look at the employment trend line over the last 5 years and last 12 months. It’s right where you’d expect it to be... if a socialist were running things with a permissive Fed.
Let’s not be naïve. This administration thinks, “Why tell the truth when a lie works just as well?”
Obama and Co. are just working this theme to prep the battlespace for the next showdown.
Government numbers are a lie. Media headlines are spin.

In theory, it could mean the fact that since this meant the gov’t was finally getting out of the way, for once, that could have helped job creation during October when the feds were not in full force. But as others said, it may also be in part due to the usually holiday temp hiring season as well.
Holiday jobs.
It will be nice to have a steady paycheck for the next two months.
But come January 2nd the job ends and the seasonal store location closes again.
Until about four years ago there were two all year locations and there were three seasonal locations. Now there is one all year store and one seasonal store. Wonder what happened?

It proves the less government does, the better off the people are.
Boy we should have these shutdowns more often.
