A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing (flawed nutrition "research")
the Scientist ^ | October 22, 2013 | Edward Archer

Posted on 11/12/2013 9:03:39 AM PST by edwinland

Recently, I was the lead author on a paper demonstrating that about 40 years and many millions of dollars of US nutritional surveillance data were fatally flawed. In most research domains, such a finding might be monumental; yet in nutrition epidemiology—the study of the impact of diet on health, hereafter referred to simply as “nutrition”—these results are commonplace. In fact, there is a large body of evidence demonstrating that the systematic misreporting of energy and macronutrient intake renders the results and conclusions of the vast majority of federally funded nutrition studies invalid.

So what is going on? Is such research mere pseudoscience? And if so, how can the federal government continue to spend billions of taxpayer dollars on studies that are making no demonstrable progress in our nation’s fight against obesity and diabetes?

...

When anti-science rhetoric occurs at a Kansas school-board fight over creationism, we can nod our educated heads in silent amusement, but if multiple generations of nutrition researchers have been trained to ignore contrary evidence, to continue writing and receiving grants, and to keep publishing specious results, the scientific community as a whole has a major credibility issue.

I had no problem with what he wrote, only with what he didn’t write.

There was nothing there I could get my teeth into, no pun intended.

Seems a lot of ‘health store’ supplements are little more than rice dust too. Body obsessions liberals have exist because they're souls are corrupted and they feel empty... “Nutrition’ is the ‘global warming’ of the liberal math challenged crowd.

The research paper is here. This article is more about the lack of scientific rigidity in nutrional studies.

BLUF: People who participate in nutirtional studies cheat to the point of impossibility.

Agreed. I thought it would be helpful to post, but, yes, he spent a lot of time repeating the same point. I guess we’ll have to read the study to find the real “meat” in his argument.

In regards to# 12. Use unrefined Celtic sea salt and a variety of herbs and spices for food interest and appetite stimulation.

Just be sure to supplement with inorganic Iodine or sprinkle your food with a good quality sea kelp. Low Iodine levels= bad health. I follow Dr. David Brownstein’s protocol...it saved my life.
