WASHINGTON - President Obama will allow insurance companies to continue offering individual health plans that do not meet the standards of the Affordable Care Act through next year, according to a Democratic source on Capitol Hill familiar with the plans.

The plan, which the president will announce Thursday morning, is intended to placate millions of consumers who have received cancellation notices from insurers in recent weeks. Obama had repeatedly promised that consumers would be able to keep plans that they liked.

The president was under intense pressure from Democrats on Capitol Hill to find a fix. House Democrats have increasingly threatened to support a Republican proposal due for a vote Friday. And Democratic senators have offered their own legislative fixes.

I suspect he will crack up soon!

From your keyboard to God's ears.

There was no excuse for him to be over a half hour late. What was he doing during that time? It wasn't going over his speech since that was written days ago and he has TOTUS. So, just what was he doing? Or was it his ego to make then entire world await his presense?

He was going over the list of the journalists to pick for questions. Someone screwed up and put Major Garret on the list. He's now back on track with the detour questioning on Iran.

So 4 times more people signed up for Medicaid than Obamacare. Maybe we should call it ‘Obamacaid’.

It’s the Law of the Democrats, not the Law of the Land.

The ACA is a snowball rolling downhill and gaining weight and speed.

It is totally a political stunt. I believe the president needs not only legislative authorization but doesn’t each insurance company have to go and get state by state approval on the plans that were terminated ? Then each insurance company, with approval, must renegotiate with all doctors and hospitals.

Speak up? The insurance co CEOs were co conspirators in this fiasco.

BTW, I guess news finally reached the whitehut there was a typhone in the Pacific. I guess His Excellency did not follow the national news but was relying upon inside the Beltway broadcasts for his intelligence updates lately. Now he is leading the charge to help the Phillipeans. I am happy he is but what the hell took so long for him to recognize the situation there was such a calamity.

The cancellation notices will have to go out before the 2014 election.

This doesn't change a damn thing - if I'm an incumbent DEM up for election, I'm pissed.

This is NO different than hooking up a terminal patient to a ventilator with a one-year battery supply.

If I'm a DEM, how do I defend AGAINST the charge that the healthcare plans will be terminated just AFTER the election?

ALSO, its NOT JUST going to be 15 million cancelled at that point.

DON'T FORGET, the EMPLOYER exemption runs out next year too.

Employers are going to CUT employees to under 50, CUT employee hours to 29.5, CUT their health plans all together - or some combination thereof.

If I'm an incumbent DEM today, I'm asking Obama:

"Can I get a hit off that crack pipe yer smokin' ..."

it’s only for 1 year...enough for the elections of 2014.

I suspect you are right about that. The GOP counter-offer had better be suspension FOREVER. Let's get that Obamacare Death Spiral rolling.

“I don’t see within the law how they can do this administratively,” said Speaker John Boehner in a press conference on Capitol Hill. “No one can identify anything the president could do administratively to keep his pledge that would be both legal and effective.”

I found Bonehead....

From Breitbart...

Boehner then said the House would act on the bill proposed by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI) that would allow Americans to keep their health insurance plans. He added that President Obama would not be able to solve any of the Obamacare problems administratively: “No one can identify anything the president could do to keep his pledge that would be both legal and effective. Promise after promise from this administration has turned out to be untrue.” He added, “The only way to fully protect the American people is to scrap this law, once and for all. There is no way to fix this.”

Then, do it Bonher!! Do it, Pubbies!! We're ALL watching and waiting.

The man is a master at double talk. Now, suddenly, he tells the insurance companies that not only can they offer the original policies to people that were canceled - but they can offer them to others who were not previously policy holders. What???

How can the companies offer something that NO LONGER EXISTS? Obamacare made sure those policies had to be changed. It took years to do that. Now, suddenly, insurance companies are supposed to change it back, overnight? The man is delusional. But...he knows this cannot be done, in reality.

What he will do next is...he will blame the insurance companies for not reinstating people. Just watch and wait. It will all be the fault of the big bad insurance companies.

I agree on every point. Any Dem up for reelection in 2014 had best pull out the old resume. They will not get reelected and they know it. O is throwing them and his party under the bus all so he can have a “legacy”.
