German home-school families face US deportation
BBC News, Washington ^ | 6 November 2013 | Jane O'Brien

The [Romeike] family arrived in the US in 2008 and settled in Tennessee. In 2010 a state court granted their request for asylum but two years later the Obama administration called for a review and a higher court overturned the decision. The Romeikes' only hope of staying in the US now rests with the Supreme Court which still hasn't decided whether to hear their appeal.

This is the first time I'd heard that the Obama administration had overturned the original asylum decision (but not surprised).

The court system went through the rules....lack of educational options....isn’t one of those hundred-odd ways that you get asylum in America.

The bottom line issue to this is that Germany runs their education along the lines of the apprentice program. You need to fill x-number of squares as a kid progressing through the school system, then progress to the apprentice program where you train for a job and a goal in life.

The home-schooling program works in the US....but connecting it into the German idea of apprentice-training is a big question mark.

Curiously, a couple thousand Germans pack up and leave Germany each year for Canada. This family could have done the same thing, and easily been accepted there with no issues. For some reason, they felt it’d be an easy sell on the asylum deal, and the courts noted this isn’t one of those reasons you can use. If they’d all said they were gay or Nazis....with German persution of them....it’d been an easier sell.

The Romeikes are not “out and proud” fags, so asylum doesn’t apply.

Maybe they should pretend to be homos? No one could prove otherwise. (No one can prove this characteristic.)

Now...had these folks been muslim? Whole different story. They’d be set up for life in the US, on the dole, guaranteed.

Had these folks been non-Christians from ANY middle eastern nation (apart from Israel)? Ditto.

The arrogant hypocrisy of this socialist puppet knows no bounds. Zero and the 0bamunists continue their unchecked assault on the very fabric of this great nation. The damage they are doing will take generations to fix, if it can be fixed at all.

Regarding this family being deported back to Germany I heard Glenn Beck say on his radio show “over my dead body”.

I sure hope it doesn’t come to that but I guess resistance has to start somewhere.

Thousands of folks should surround this family if they are ordered to be deported.

There are many EU countries that allow home schooling and as EU citizens they are free to move there - in e.g. Austria they even speak German. But then they wouldn’t get all this press coverage...

Even easier, see my #9. Germany is surrounded by countries where homeschooling is legal - and as EU citizens they could move there with no restrictions at all.

No, you completely misunderstand. This is a holdover law from Nazi Germany, when they didn’t want the church or family views to influence and counteract, or not expose their children to the propaganda children were being fed in the schools. Like many places now, aggressive pro-abortion is pushed and “don’t worry about your old fashioned parents, they just don’t want you to have fun having sex.” They try and undermine religious beliefs.

People have forcibly had their children taken AT GUNPOINT. It is precisely for people like them that our country is a haven for all freedom loving people. They ARE being oppressed. I don’t give a crap that Germany is a “modern democratic state.” On this point they are as bad as HITLER.

This family has two American born children since they came to the US. Don’t they qualify as “anchor babies”? How can they deport American citizens?
