Local sheriffs will wait for more clear direction before implementing a Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act mandate to sign up all inmates into Medicaid plans via the federal health insurance exchange.
Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson said he received notification from 13th Judicial Chief Judge H. Chris Ryan Jr. through his Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei that all sheriffs within the judicial district are “obligated” to enroll inmates into health care plans offered on the federal exchange as mandated by Obamacare. The judicial district includes La Salle, Bureau and Grundy counties. Thompson said he has contacted an ACA specialist but was told not to enroll anyone who is incarcerated....

I think this will undermine the inmate’s constitutional rights! Even if they have very few left after being imprisoned having to apply for Obamacare will erode the remaining ones.
I am betting that that forcing Obamacare onto inmates will be ruled cruel and unusual punishment! Seriously, I think that most inmate care is much better than what they will receive under Obamacare.

Don’t forget to register them for SNAP while you’re at it. And SSI. And anything else you can think of.
