Radio giant Rush Limbaugh is scorching the leader of the Roman Catholic Church for criticizing unfettered capitalism, saying, “This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope.”
“You know the pope, Pope Francis has issued an official papal proclamation, and it’s sad,” Limbaugh said on his national broadcast Wednesday. “It’s actually unbelievable. It’s sad because this pope makes it very clear he doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to capitalism and socialism and so forth.”
“I’m not Catholic,” Limbaugh added, “but up until this I admired the man.”
In the 84-page document titled “Evangelii Gaudium,” which was released Tuesday, Pope Francis called upon politicians to provide “dignified work, education and health care” to all citizens.
“The commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill’ sets a clear limit in order to safeguard the value of human life,” wrote the pope. “Today we also have to say ‘thou shalt not’ to an economy of exclusion and inequality. Such an economy kills.”
Noting that he had visited the Vatican “numerous times,” Limbaugh observed wryly: “Believe me, it wouldn’t exist without tons of money. Somebody has either written this for [the pope] or gotten to him. This is pure Marxism.”

Some countries have higher wages than others, this is not a crisis.
But without the right for a person to keep what he works for, you get very little work, and you get the bad conditions you describe.
Why people like Rush and Wilkow and all of the Freepers on this thread choose to use Marxist language to describe free market economics (”Capitalism”. Marx’s word.) will always be a mystery to me.
I agree, but the Pope is also speaking to the World not just the United States.
I’ll need to see a direct translation of the Pope’s message to form an opinion. I’m skeptical of the drama surrounding it.
Rush really is his name. He doesn’t shout on the air. He presents educates and reasoned ideas. And he know about Marxism well.

The motive behind them had much in common with the expensive football stadium built by my local high school, or maybe with Jerry Jones’, and most of all to the Temple in Jerusalem. As for today, more than two hundred years ago, the French Revolutionaries and then Napoleon destroyed the economic base that supported the Cathedrals. Today they are the property of the French State.

Remember, the Pope is addressing this to the world. Read this Paragraph and pretend that you are Mexican or Brazilian (are you familiar with the Brazilian death squads?)
He is suggesting that one looks at the root of unjust systems. I think an example closer to home would be that of the black urban culture attributable to LBJ. He isn’t saying that the solution is to up the amount of welfare, but he is saying that there is a problem here that people ought to think about solving. Going to the root is something that generally isn’t done.
This radio shouter Rush, if that is his real name, ought to spend a few hours studying Marxism before making a fool of himself to everyone except his mindless ditty heads!
Every time I read a quote from the Pope I just gotta do a facepalm. Rush has finally called him on it.
Evidently unlike Rush, I'm a limited-budget consumer who watches out for other limited-budget consumers.
Consider that one of the things that triggered the government-fabricated mortgage crisis was the rising price of oil. When consumers were faced with the dilemma of either putting gas in their vehicle or paying their subprime mortgages, many people reluctantly chose to put gas in their vehicles.

The problem is not with the higher wages—the problem is if wages are so low in one place as to not allow people a human mode of living—especially if their employers are doing very well.

He’s commented several times on this pope. It’s been pretty favorable stuff, IIRC.
You don’t know much about Mexico, do you? Mexico was under the rule of strongly an anti-Catholic Masonic regime since the Mexican Revolution in 1917. Under the PRI they held one party rule until 2000. Between 1926 and 1929 they fought the brutal Cristero War trying to destroy the Catholic Church. The PRI is back in power today. Put aside your prejudges.
