Medicaid an Obamacare Success Story
National Journal ^ | December 3, 2013 | by Sophie Novak

A new report released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Tuesday shows that more than 1.46 million people were determined in October to be eligible to enroll in Medicaid or the Children's Health Insurance Program.

Although the increase in applications was higher in states expanding Medicaid, the insurance requirement and coverage of the law in general has prompted a number of uninsured but eligible individuals to apply for Medicaid coverage.

So putting a scad of folks on medicaid whilst reducing funding for both it and medicare are a “success”?

May all liberal be forced to have brain surgery by doctors with as little ability and low IQ as has our Dork-O-Dent.

Obama is slime.

Stupid slime.

Lying, stupid slime.

Why is putting people on the government dole a success story?

Far from it.

That, my FRiend, is simply an ASSUMPTION on the left, a GIVEN.
More people dependent being served by government is a good thing.

My sister, who just moved to Oklahoma tried the web site in that state for health care.
She is unemployed so cannot afford to buy, was directed to the medicaid site and guess what she is not able to get it. The requirements are: younger than 65 (which she is), low to no income (which she is), have a recognize disability (she has none), be pregnant (not possible), speak Spanish (yes that was on there) or dependents (none).
So no luck.
Who are these people who get this care so easily.
We had a long talk about just lying, that’s how she thinks people get this coverage. She wont.

I’m curious exactly putting 1.46 million people on Medicaid provides the underpinnings for the rest of Obamacare. Wasn’t the whole plan structured around squeezing the younger, healthier segment of the population?

I guess this Government calls it a success when working Americans have to pay for the Health care of those who do not or will not work.

That’s a pretty easy determination of success.

“A new report released by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services”

The same people who told us the website would be ready on time and lied to a congressional committee about it. I’m really not willing to take their word for ANYTHING!

Dear little Sophie didn’t bother to REPORT that in order to sign up more people on Medicaid they would have to take money from Medicare to fund it!

“The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), previously known as the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), is a federal agency within the United States Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that administers the Medicare program and works in partnership with state governments to administer Medicaid”

A large part is paid by cuts to Medicare. The bonus subsidies to Medicare Advantage were cut and the reimbursement rates to hospitals was cut.

The major difference between conservatives and socialists. We want to get people off of welfare so that they can live free, productive lives and achieve. They want to get as many people on welfare so that they can control them.

More people and fewer doctors equals more trips to the ER which the government now pays for.

Some just keep having more babies. It barely raises eyebrows where i work for a 25 yo (or younger) girl to show up pregnant for the 5th time.

Some just have to figure out how they are disabled, and hire a lawyer. The easiest way is apparently to go to prison, because once you're out, you're almost guarantee to qualify for PTSD and depression. I had one old fellow who neglected his own health (he had county aid for years which paid for his doc visits and meds) until he managed to get disability for his diabetes--before he'd even lost his sight or his limbs. One surly woman told me in all earnestness that she "couldn't" work because she had "anger issues."

I'm not making this up, folks. It's such a huge problem around here that where I work, BS Disability is almost the rule rather than the exception. Not just amongst those on disability--I'm talking all the people who show up at my doorstep. Those who are employed AND have their own non-gov't insurance are such a rare breed, well THAT will raise eyebrows among the staff!

OK is not a state which expanded Medicaid; she would be more than welcome in CA which has no requirements beyond income. No doctors but we have lots of ERs.

She could get disability (actually qualified). She has a damaged rotators cuff from a work injury (15% disability rating) plus arthritis up and down her spine which makes her ability to stand very difficult.
But gosh darn it, she has always worked and never gotten the “disability” classification because other people need it more.
She has done home day care and managed day care centers for 25+ years, before that home care for seniors.
Her plan is that she will hang on until she turns 62, collect SS and work part time.
I get your point.
