Mitch McConnell’s Campaign Stumbles on Easy Steps

The re-election campaign committee of a sitting five-term U.S. Senator appears not quite up to speed on the basic campaign mechanics for their 2014 election.

The campaign committee of Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., has been queried by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) regarding campaign contributions that appear to be over the legal limits for political giving by individuals and political action committees.

The Federal Election Commission sent a letter on Tuesday to the treasurer of the McConnell Senate Committee ’14 requesting additional information on the contributions of twelve individuals and seven PACs, that appear to be excessive, prohibited and impermissible contributions.

While some campaigns receive large numbers of contributions, they usually are experienced enough set up in-house procedures to monitor for excessive contributions and designations for a specific election. Even when a joint fundraising committee is used, most campaigns realize that for the benefit of the contributor and the campaign, they must put a system in place that quickly spots and corrects any issues prior to filing a report with the FEC. Three of the problems should have been apparent in July, five in August and eleven in September. Even after the close of books, there were fifteen days to spot errors and make notations on the report.

McConnell rode into Washington on Ronald Reagan’s coattails. If not for conservatives McConnell never would have been elected in 1984.

Power corrupts. The longer in power, the more corrupt a politician will become. We need term limits on all elected officials, even the few politicians we like. Politicians should realize that their days in office are numbered just like a person with prolonged exposure to radiation. A sickness will overcome even the most honest of public officials.

You know what they say,.. 6th time’s a charm!

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...

What would he do next that he has not had a chance to do in the past 30 years?

I mean besides insult more TEA party members?

Bye Bye Mitch!

Hope the Dems let you into their retirement home.

Maybe they will load him up on a bus and take him to Frankfort and he can have some delicious food at Rick's Diner (owned by an extreme Democrat-they say) and commiserate with him about how mean those TEA Party people were to him when they un-elected him.

Just shows how much they become addicted to the power, perks and prestige of office. And most of them are addicted. Why would anyone want to go through a tough election after having been there for 30 years?
