Colorado Seen Trending Republican After Democratic Resignation

Colorado has been rocked by the surprise resignation of Democratic state Sen. Evie Hudak, and Republicans from Denver to Washington have begun to seriously discuss whether this is the latest sign that the Centennial State is again trending Republican.

Hudak's Nov. 27 resignation — which puts Republicans in a stronger position to win control of the state Senate next year — occurred as the latest polls show Colorado's two top Democrats — Gov. John Hickenlooper and Sen. Mark Udall — highly vulnerable to Republican challengers in 2014.

"Overreach" is a term Republicans in Colorado often use to characterize the major reason that Democrats are now facing major challenges to the lock they have held on major statewide offices for nearly a decade.

As former state Republican Chairman Dick Wadhams told Newsmax, "Democrats may very well have overreached when they pushed gun-control legislation through the Senate and when they supported a major tax increase for education that voters turned down by a margin of 2-to-1 last November."

Coming less than four months after two fellow senate Democrats were ousted in recall elections organized by gun owners and conservatives, Hudak was the target of a petition drive to place her on the ballot in a recall election.

Had the election been held and Hudak ousted, the state Senate's present one-seat Democratic edge — 18 seats to 17 in Republican hands — would have flipped to the Republicans, giving them control of the upper house of the legislature.

"Hudak resigned because of the heat that a recall election would have generated," former Republican congressman and gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo told Newsmax. "She saw what happened to two of her colleagues and just did not want to go through that herself."

Lets keep focused Colorado.

Actually, she took one for the team. By resigning, she allowed Loopy to appoint her replacement - a ‘Rat, natch. If the recall election had gone forward the seat would have gone R.

I live in Montana, but listen online to a Colorado radio station (streams Mark Levin).

When this creep announced her resignation, the local news made note that the seat would stay in the control of a Democrat (John Hickenlooper GOV. - DEM) rather than - sometime in the future if she was recalled (likely) - go to a Republican.

FWIW - I have yet to read this, but these actions smell greatly...

When the replacement is appointed by the Dem Gov, can another recall be organized?

I'm not up on the arcana of CO election law but I would suppose so. The trouble is getting people fired up again after standing down. As a practical matter I don't think it's doable.

“And here I thought she had Gravitas.”

Some antibiotics should clear that up for her in a week or two.

Hint: Given her pics, she may have some kind of glandular condition that may or may not be covered by 0DontCare.

The TEA Party should adopt a “no quarter” philosophy.

When a “demorat” gets caught, he/she turns tail and runs instead of facing the outcome. That is what is wrong with the RHINO’s, they miss their chance to take over and instead, run WITH the demorats.

This entire country can be taken back by facing the libs and their kind directly and in their face. Put our nation back on the “Christian” track, reject all the politically correct crap and go for the throat for those who reject it. Unfortunately there is NO BACKBONE left in this country of compliance

That’s what I was going to ask, are Republicans/grassroots constituents planning on more recalls?

When there’s blood in the water, well you know..

Everything you said is on target. I’ve been preaching that since 1992. The problem is that so-called conservatives are more concerned about MONEY. They’re Mammon-worshippers. Watch this thread. I’ll bet that your post won’t get more than two responses. Take your message to the patriot community. There, you’ll find a willing audience ready to listen.

What I said should not lessen the effort that Jim has poured into this website. Thanks, buddy.

The so called “war on women” is what gave obama colorado in 2012. I was in a restaurant picking up far is one night as n overheard probably a typical conversation. Two men, one woman, mid 60s discussing who to vote for. Only thing the woman was basing her vote on was that Romney would set women back a century.

Add healthcare costs to your list.
