The Young Aren't So Dumb After All

Millennials: Having failed to convince the public that ObamaCare is a good thing, President Obama on Wednesday tried selling his snake oil to young people. Turns out they aren't buying it, either — nor should they.

Despite the administration spending a fortune promoting ObamaCare, enlisting celebrities to endorse it, and telling moms to get their kids to sign up, most young people disapprove of the law.

A Harvard University Institute of Politics survey of 18- to 29-year-olds found that 57% oppose ObamaCare. More than half think it will increase their costs, and a plurality (40%) believe it will hurt the quality of care. Just 18% say it will boost quality.

Worse for Obama, fewer than a third of uninsured young people say they plan to enroll in ObamaCare — a mere 13% say they "definitely" will do so.

When they start voting against the Democrats, then I’ll believe that they’re not so dumb.

The Young Aren't So Dumb After All

That's a rather generous statement. Smart people don't have to hit themselves with a hammer to know that its going to hurt.

I’m sorry, but a massive preponderance of the evidence forces me to disagree with the headline of this post. Still, it’s heartening to know that some of them are waking up to the fact that Obama is a fraud.

Come on, how many of us were kids during the carter era? I remember thinking even as a child what a humiliating embarrassment of a scumbag he was. Kids have a far greater access to information these days. Even with all of the propaganda, did the left really believe they would not eventually pick up on the disaster of democrat policy and the economic devastation left in its wake?

Now imagine a young mid twenties person trying to get started in their career after school. They have the college debt to pay back, and now obama has forced them to purchase excrutiatingly expensive healthcare based on socialist wealth redistribution. All I can say is “Thanks for the new Tea Party members...”

"Show me a young Conservative and I'll show you someone with no heart. Show me an old Liberal and I'll show you someone with no brains."
Often attributed to Winston Churchill ([6]). The phrase originated with Francois Guisot (1787-1874): "Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." It was revived by French Premier Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929): "Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head."

Whatever the origin of the quote, it has long been recognized that the young are easily swayed by idealism, but as they get older, they usually learn that utopian dreams and reality do not mix.

We'll see how well they have learned the lesson on the next election. We'll also see if the Republican party gets the courage to stand up for the convictions that its donors desperately want to see supported.

Indeed - not liking Deathcare and voting for chinless Rovian republican reprobates are two separate issues entirely. For girls, the democrat party is guilt free sex and abortion on demand as a civil right - for boys, they want the girls that are into guilt free sex.

Spot on! And they will continue to vote for democrats. However, they are not willing (or able) to pay $500/month for $150 worth of insurance.

And they will replace him with another idol

The question is why is anyone under twenty one allowed to vote?
The law changed during the VIet Nam war era and can be changed back

"Worse for Obama ..."?

Why? Is he "running" again?

What percent of the youth vote did Cuccinelli poll just a month ago today? I suspect the number (which I don’t know) is not significant.

The desire for liberalism and socialism is stronger in the hearts of Americans than we ever realized. The evidence is clear: as in Great Britain, liberalism is in the driver’s seat even it takes a temporary setback in a forthcoming election or two.

There is hope for the country after all, if the youth of today realize that the feral government is out to pick their pockets while breaking campaign promises. That’s something that the gullible generations before them weren’t smart enough to figure out, though some are starting to with the ObamaCare fiasco.

FTA: More than half of those ages 18-24 would recall Obama if they could. There's hope for this country yet.

Back story: A large number of them want to "recall" Obastard because he's too conservative. I wouldn't be uncorking the champagne just yet.

I believe a majority of white young people did support Romney, and then it a minority problem rather than a generational question.

Unfortunately, my kids, who knew better, will suffer right along with you.

Agreed. If only there was a way that only the pro-Obama voters could experience the “joys” of his policies while the anti-Obama ones could escape them.

So, do they ACTUALLY see the folly of socialism,
or are they just upset that Obama didn’t implement it right?
