Activists urge Obama to go rogue, sidestep Congress
The Washington Times ^ | December 5, 2013 | Stephan Dinan

President Obama’s repeated use of presidential powers is causing a tough problem — his own supporters now expect him to use it to achieve everything they want. From immigration to the minimum wage, congressional Democrats and liberal activists this week urged Mr. Obama to declare an end run around Capitol Hill, assert executive authority and make as much progress as he can on the expansive agenda he laid out for his second term

A day after Mr. Obama denounced income inequality, progressive lawmakers said he should take the lead by issuing an executive order requiring all federal contractors to pay workers more than the minimum wage. A dozen lawmakers and immigration activists held a news conference outside the Capitol on Thursday asking him to halt all deportations as a down payment on an eventual immigration bill. “To not use his executive authority is not just unstrategic; it is cruel,” said Tania Unzueta, a strategist with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network. On immigration, Mr. Obama raised expectations when, after years of denying he had such powers, he issued a policy last year saying he no longer would deport young illegal immigrants, the “Dreamers” who were brought to the U.S. as minors by their parents and are considered the most sympathetic cases. He said he was using prosecutorial discretion. More than two dozen House Democrats have written a letter to Mr. Obama saying he can expand that authority to encompass nearly all 11 million illegal immigrants.

What is it going to take for the people of this nation to rise up in revolt. Oh, never mind; I know. It's going to take the 47% who are on the dole and pay no taxes to lose their freebies. But, that's not gonna happen. And, apparently not one of our Conservative leaders in this nation, who have the wherewithal to do so, are willing to rise up and call the people to arms. A recent poster had this quote from Thomas Jefferson:

“When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.” Where are the Thomas Jeffersons when you need them?

OK, go ahead FReeper friends. Tell me I'm being naive and unrealistic and we can only do this at the ballot box, etc., etc., etc., and newbie here needs to just shut up and quit being so radical. Go ahead; I'll take my licks.

I don’t think sidestepping Congress is “going rogue.” It’s called treason. But it would take principled politicians in Congress in his own party to impeach him. There are no principled Democrats. The last one died about 20 years ago.

I won’t tell you we can only do this at the ballot box. I don’t think the ballot box works anymore.

As far as the rest, well, what can I tell you. You seem to have a pretty good grasp on the subject.

Welcome to Free Republic.

The 47% are too busy working and paying for the rest to go out and riot.
By the time they finish work they are too tired.

Obama is playing from a consolidated power playbook from numerous historical dictators. They know that they must keep a majority of the people, no matter how small, fed, clothed and entertained to maintain the illusion of stability. They use their powerful executive and regulatory agencies (i.e. the IRS, EPA, NSA, FBI, etc.) to quash resistance to policies passed behind closed doors. And they use a compliant and adoring media to fill the minds of the people with lies and half-truths about how great everything is in the country.

Hitler did it. Mussolini did it. Lenin did it and Stalin finished the job by turning it all into a full communist dictatorship. Obama is simply following the rulebooks used by some of the 20th century’s greatest communists and fascists. Keep the people calm and entertained, and you can accomplish whatever is necessary to effect tyranny.

Once the walls come down, and those of us who have been preaching that this imposter has no robes are fully quashed or thoroughly muted, the sheepish proles will have no will to fight due to the terror that will be inflicted upon them by the tyrannical infrastructure put in place right in front of their eyes.

Based on the conversations I’ve had with neighbors who support Obama, they don’t care. They don’t care that members of Congress exempt themselves from Obamacare, they don’t seem to care about anything constitutional.

Makes you wonder how the 1/3 who broke away from the British felt.

He needs urging? He’ll do it when it’s politically convenient.

Why should he use Congress now. He has been sidestepping them for years now. Thousands of those Executive Orders and ignoring the Constitution and the Laws of the Land. He is a criminal, leading a criminal government, infected with the enemies of the Republic and murdering Islamic thugs. Yet, no problems for America. The BIG college conference championship games and the NFL and the NHL and the Soccer leagues of Socialist Europa are playing. Free phones. Free apartments. Free food. Free stuff. No matters to stupid sheep of Amerika. Let him do what he wants to do they say. We are happy while the Republic burns.

“The 47% are too busy working and paying for the rest to go out and riot. By the time they finish work they are too tired.”

It is worse than that; those working are forced to subsidize the beast that devours them (through taxation/wealth re-distribution). Besides the welfare recipients voting themselves more freebies, the teachers’ union (who receive dues wrung from taxpayers) campaign for more of Americans’ earnings.

“When the people fear the government, ..."

Hmmmm.... I resemble that remark.

0' has had many remarkable men to follow footsteps of without going back too far (and going back far plenty more): O'Dinga, Zelaya (Honduras), and on and on

Wait for the next scandal or outrageous exposure, then he’ll offer a distraction with two or three unconstitutional or anti-American moves as a distraction. That’s how he operates.

Obama’s finished unless someone gives him the excuse to plant a boot on our faces. He can limp along the next few years...

“Wait, wait, wait, before everybody starts clapping — that’s not how it works,” Mr. Obama said. “We got this Constitution. We got this whole thing about separation of powers and branches.”

It won’t be long now. It seems as though he is mocking the fact that those powers still keep him in check. He wants total, complete reign, and I think he will have it before his term is up. This will not end well.

I had the exact same thought. “Going rogue” makes it sound like he’s bucking the stupid system, man. Going rogue when you’re the President of the United States means you should be impeached.

Recall when some tin horn central american “president” decided to run for an illegal term and the supreme court ordered the army to remove him? Also recall which administration in the US sided with the tin horn president. Right, our tin horn pissadent. So, when that happens here, the SC will say that two wrongs don’t make a right and they will not intercede. The army is too beholden to him to rise up too. So, unless Putin comes to our aid, we are done, put a fork in us and worse those of us who have been clamoring about this catastrophy are recorded at the offices of the state apparatus and will be disappeared.

What these activists forget is that for every Allende there is a Pinochet. I’ll admit to experiencing schadenfreude, although its not what the USA is supposed to be about.
