He didn’t benefit from universal health care. That’s BS. He got health care insurance based his employment with the military and the U. S. government. And if someone did not have an employer that provided health care insurance they could buy policies on their own ... that is before Obama screwed it up so that premiums now double and triple

Obama’s failure on all issues seemed to have shut up Powell for a long time.

His views outside of the military only matter because he is black. He is boring and stupid. At least Chris Matthews and Ed Schultz are funny nutcases.

He really disappoints me.

It’s difficult to imagine him inspiring the troops when he makes noises like this.

He should know better. I suspect he might, which is sad.

His comments left me thinking he is a simpleton. Putting aside the politics.

Show of hands please. Who is surprised by Col. Powells public support of ObamaCare? Anybody? My hand is NOT up!

Yes, we are all wealthy enough to afford to give away an unlimited amount of resources. After all, we all live in mansions like http://www.celebrityhousepictures.com/colin-powell.php . And it’s not like as if any of us actually have to work for a living.

Colin Powell is revealing his true self. He had me fooled. I probably would have voted for him had he run for president in the 90s. He may have been different then. Perhaps, he changed over the years. Who knows? I am glad that I never had the opportunity to make that mistake.

Right. His comments are stunning on two levels. As you said his comments are stupid and something a simpleton would say. But the politics of Powell has gotten worse. People like Powell are emboldened to “come out of the closet” and directly call for socialism or marxism these days. If they cheer Mandela for confiscating private property than why would they not what to do that over here?

thats just one man’s opinion, and if you don’t like the man, who cares what he thinks...Republican presidents made him and he had become quite a liberal, who wouldn’t have given him the time of day....

We are a rich enough country so why should we be made to work just to make Corporate America richer? Time we even things out! Time everyone gets a share!

We need someone to actually work, since we don't want to. So we should admit the people of Mexico. We know that they are hard working, god-fearing and ethical. If they promise to work, they will. The work will get done and the taxes they pay will balance the federal budget. Then all will be well.

I thought Paul Ryan was okay too.

Same here. It is amazing what a little time does. New or unknown politicians are not to be trusted. While I don't want an inside the beltway type, I do want a consistent record followed by a principled campaign. Also throw in private sector experience, especially if that experience is starting and succeeding in a business without government assistance.

I find it interesting that politicians who end up in DC “evolve” in only one direction: towards liberalism/progressiveism. Not all change, but those who do always move left. Is it the money, do they get assimilated, or were they always leftists? I don’t know, but it’s a curious thing. Powell is a case in point.

“I once thought Powell would be a good Republican President.”

I feel that Ben Carson would make a great President but I fear that Obama has so poisoned the well that African Americans will be pariahs for many years in politics. That’s a shame but completely understandable given Obama’s arrogance and ineptitude while in office.

“We are a wealthy enough country with the capacity to make sure that every one of our fellow citizens has access to quality health care,”

We a not a wealthy country. The wealth of our individual citizens is not community property.

You put your finger on it there. The ruling clique (as you know, of course) thinks that it IS community property.

Which is better for a 25 year old man’s health: health insurance or a full-time job?
