Civil War within the Virginia Republican Party
The Virginia Free Citizen ^ | 12/9/13 | Philip Hamilton

Currently, there is an ongoing struggle between establishment Republicans and Tea Party conservatives over future control of local GOP committee units. Many GOP committee units, including the unit in Caroline County, are controlled by establishment Republicans who are actively stonewalling Tea Party conservatives from joining the committee.

In the 7th Congressional District, and in surrounding Congressional districts such as the 1st, Congressman Eric Cantor, Bill Bolling and others in power are actively seeking to retain establishment chair control and to overthrow tea party chairs. Eric Cantor knows that he is more likely to win a primary than a convention, since a more conservative candidate would win the latter.

Cantor specifically wants pro-primary chairs installed in GOP committees so that when he is up for re-election he can insure he obtains the nomination process of choice. For Cantor, and other establishment Republicans, retaining power is more important than growing the party.

A very damning piece, and indicative of how the GOP-e is going to cut off its nose to spite its face. Do they really think that Conservatives are going to work for and vote for their candidates after such treatment?

RINOs are all for the “big tent” as long as it doesn’t contain the TEA party or conservatives.

I live in Loudoun (Lowdown) County and have witnessed the viciousness of the local GOPe. Unfortunately, in Virginia you don’t have to pick a party affliation when you register to vote. I say unfortunately because then I can’t change to “independent.” Loudoun has also experienced uncontrolled growth, which opened the door to a massive influx of libs from northern states. In the last two general elections it went blue. And the cherry on top...the local mayor (Rhino) joined Bloomburg and his anti Second Amendment crowd and also endorsed MacRat i8n the recent election. I am a fourth generation Loudouner, but I guess it’s time say adios.

The cash doesn’t come from the common voters.

The cash comes from a small group of connected donors.

I’m interested in knowing if this Publication to whom his letter was sent is widely read. Is it a Conservative pub or GOP pub? I’d hope that this word gets out and exposes the corruption in the GOPe in Virginia.

Din, site was launched in early November, run by citizens, not any particular group. Conservative, yes, I know they are looking for Virginia writers. editor@virginiafreecitizen.com I did crosspost that on Right Side News today and the owner of VFC would like others to crosspost that letter, or email it, post on social networks, etc, etc.

This is not new. Is there anyone besides me who can remember the 80’s and the “Moral Majority” days? We Conservatives had to fight the RINOs back then. I was living in Michigan in the 80s and I was the GOP Chair for a Congressional District. The RINOs (GOPe) hated us Conservatives back then. This is nothing new.

It is not just happening in VA...

It is happening in every big county in the country...

This is extremely damning proof of the republican party’s leadership thinking they are all the country needs, and these Tea Party upstarts are not deserving of any leadership roles at the big table...

Unless there was a major change in by-laws, the federal office-holders in Virginia have full control over their method of nomination. That is how it was back when I was active in the party politics, anyway.

I personally prefer primaries to conventions, because they tend to bring people together better after the outcome. I would prefer that we be allowed to have closed primaries though, which would require party registration, which I wish we had.

The conventions are a pain — I was out of town the weekend of this year’s convention, so I had almost no say in who our nominees were, even though I vote in every election.

(I say “almost no say”) because technically, if you show up at your county convention, you get to pick the county representatives, and so you could pick people who support your candidates. But since we rarely have a maximum number of people selected, pretty much everybody who wants to go to the state convention will go.)

If you would like updates on what is going on with the Caroline County, VA GOP you may contact me at hamiltonforliberty@gmail.com or at 571-455-5312. RINOs tainting the GOP certainly isn’t a new issue. However, the RINOs are desperate and are coming hard at the tea party so we need to fight back even harder!
