QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. - An Arizona man says he has found out the hard way just how to get banned from Walmart for life.
Joe Cantrell loves to ad match.
He goes through circulars to find the biggest discounts, and then goes to Walmart.
According to the company's website, they match the lowest advertised price on identical products, but when Joe tried doing that last week, the unthinkable happened.
What started as a trip to a San Tan Valley, Ariz., Walmart to get ornaments for his family's Christmas tree, turned into the biggest nightmare of Joe's life.
"I was handcuffed, humiliated and embarrassed in front of everybody at Walmart," Joe remembers.
And, there's a chance, Joe just may be the most loyal Walmart shopper you've ever met.
Joe told us he visits the mega-retailer at least twice a day -- once in the morning with his grandmother, and then again in the evening.
"I just love Walmart and that's why I go," he laughs.

It’s a joke around here trying to find an employee at our local Walmart also.
They brag in their ads about price matching as well. If it comes out the guy was a PITA and the manager took it upon himself to rid the store of this guy and used it as an excuse to do it he will be fired ASAP.
Corporate only sees sales, anything that could remotely hurt their reputation like this is majorly verboten.
Exactly. The big box retailers are doing everything they can to stay in business. Everyone price matches these days without complaint.

How is this any different than these extreme couponers? If an establishment advertises a policy but doesn’t honor that, there are laws on the books that can be enforced against them. “Bait and switch” comes to mind.

No argument here on that part of the story. If he can walk around Walmart twice a day and loves it so much he can stock their damn shelves and earn a paycheck while he does it.
Be careful of the knee-jerk reactions, people. The Left loves to denigrate Walmart and there CLEARLY is missing information here.

Manufacturers of big-ticket items used to put out identical merch with different serial numbers for different retailers.
This way they could claim it was not a comparable item.

I agree completely, there is always more to the story than the initial one side of it. However my wife is a manager of a Walmart competitor and a lot of store managers do start acting like little kings of their fiefdom. This guy was probably a pain in the butt twice a day and they used any excuse to ban him they could.
Going to be interesting to see how this one turns out, I will bet money now it’s gone public that corporate will backpedal faster than hell on his banning and issue a public apology.
Considering many of the people who shop at Walmart, that is really tough to do.

Some how I’m thinking there’s a whole bunch of story he’s leaving out. Little chunks like this: “Joe wasn’t arrested, but he says he’s facing charges of threatening, intimidation and disorderly conduct.” indicate there’s a lot of story missing.
