No Extremists Here
American Spectator | December 11, 2013 | Ross Kaminsky

Posted on 12/11/2013 3:02:20 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

Democrats make a lot of silly statements. The trick isn’t finding a pronouncement by a liberal politician which — in a way nearly unique to politics — simultaneously brings a grimace, a giggle, and a groan, but figuring out whether the speaker is an outright liar or just living in a liberal echo chamber reminiscent of Pauline Kael (or at least the political mythology surrounding her).

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, is a reliable representative of the outright liar camp: No echo is loud enough to make her actually believe that Democratic candidates will run (and win) on the issue of Obamacare, but she says it repeatedly, hoping that the Big Lie strategy will work just one more time.

Other irrepressible dissemblers in Congress include Jim McDermott (D-WA), Alan Grayson (D-FL), and House Democratic Leader Nancy “I wasn’t lying when I said you could keep your plan” Pelosi (D-CA).

But I’ve long wondered about the second-ranking Democrat in the House, Steny Hoyer. Hoyer has carefully crafted a public image as a pragmatic moderate, itself a remarkable achievement given that the rest of his party’s House leadership includes Pelosi along with James “if you disapprove of Obama, you’re probably racist” Clyburn (SC) and the rabidly leftist and economically ignorant Xavier “a government bond is the same as cash” Becerra (CA).

According to two vote-rating projects (one by the non-partisan National Journal and one by the liberal Americans for Democratic Action), Hoyer’s voting record is, in partisan terms, average for a Democrat. He doesn’t scream. He doesn’t whine (much). He looks and speaks vaguely like a statesman.

So was Mr. Hoyer misguided, or just lying, in a Tuesday morning appearance on CNBC when he asserted that there are no extremists in the Democratic Party?

The extremists in the Democrat party are so liberal/radical nowadays, that they think of themselves as centrists. People like Hoyer and Pelosi really believe that they are not liberal, they think they are centrists.

Ross Kaminsky might be suggesting something worthy of discussion if he could find any destructive Democrat policies, id est all of them, that Hoyer has worked against, with the operative word being: worked.

To be a rat one must stand against everything that it means to be AN AMERICAN and one must make it their life’s goal to destroy the US CONSTITUTION... so to be a rat is to be an extreme leftwing extremist. Every rat lies all of the time... hoyer is a rat... he is a lie... he lives a lie... he worships the prince of the lie.

And if Ted Cruz got up and said there were no extremists on the Republican side you would be getting identical op-eds from the other side.

Nope. But I'm sure he is in Steny Hoyer's view, or John McCain's view for that matter. Who is an extremist depends on the viewpoint of the person making the call.

You are wrong. JFK is proof of the constant left shift of the political spectrum. If alive today JFK would be a Republican , not even a RINO but a conservative. Here's another example, Joe Lieberman, an almost perfect progressive in every way, was excommunicated form the Democratic party over one discretion. He sided with Bush on the WOT.

No sir, if you can't see the difference then your myopia is terminal.

What he MEANT to say was:

“there are no examples of anyone who is not an extremist in the Democratic Party”

Perhaps he meant to say:

“he asserted that there are no Patriots in the Democratic Party”

The Left has branded ex-military personnel, TEA Partiers, and all other Patriotic Americans as extremists.

Therefore, to his mind, “there are no extremists in the Democratic Party”

JFK is proof of the constant left shift of the political spectrum. If alive today JFK would be a Republican , not even a RINO but a conservative.

There is no doubt that the Democrats have been galloping to the left extreme of the political spectrum. At the same time the Republicans have been moving further to the conservative end of th political spectrum. You claim that Kennedy would be a conservative Republican today? Most of the GOP of that period would be considered liberal Democrats by today's standards. It has worked both ways.

Here's another example, Joe Lieberman, an almost perfect progressive in every way, was excommunicated form the Democratic party over one discretion. He sided with Bush on the WOT.

And I've seen several threads recently where most of the posters were ready to draw and quarter Ted Cruz and drum him out of the party for one single reason, he said something nice about Mandela. When it comes to excommunicating people for single transgressions Conservatives are not a whole lot different than the Democrats are.

No sir...

Miss

Here is the difference. Ted Cruz deserves scrutiny. Why? Because we have had a run of faux conservatives thrown at us for decades. They all seem to go squishy.

The Democraps don't have that problem, once elected they become even more progressive than as presented as a candidate. This progressivism increases over time also. They become better populists and progressives with age.

Do you see the difference?

Democrats use words and feelings as weapons of control.

Liberal Newspeak is the chirpy announcer in a drug commercial soothingly telling you about all the fatal side effects while on screen couples have romantic picnics and go whitewater rafting. That is the job of most of the news media. Forget outliers like MSNBC which caters to a self-consciously prog crowd. The media’s real job is to be that announcer telling you that if you vote liberal, your taxes will go up, your job will go to China and you will die, without getting you upset about the terrible news.
