...Expert Warns Southern California Isnt Ready For Major Quake
A leading earthquake expert has issued a dire warning to Californians about the expected impact of a major disruption to the San Andreas fault line.
The title of Dr. Lucy Jones lecture this week to the American Geophysical Union in San Francisco was Imagine America without Los Angeles.
As KCAL9′s Dave Bryan reports, Jones, a Science Advisor for Risk Reduction at the U.S. Geological Survey, says when the Big One hits Southern California, the damage could be much greater, and could last much longer, than most of us ever imagined

“Imagine” (the marxist hymn of John Lennon)-— “It’s easy if you try”. No LA— imagine the blessing.
Let it be!
“It’s easy if you try.......”
Great minds think alike, and damn near simultaneously.
No LA? Oh, no, that’s horrible....then we wouldn’t have any Hollywood!...Oh, wait, never mind....
Actually Los Angles is becoming part of Mexico. There has been no effective resistance to the “Reconquesta”.
I am, and I’m getting just a little giddy thinking about it.
Let’s say you chopped off the rotten blue “rind” of California.
All that would happen would be that the healthy remaining [now] coastline would get infected with new fruits and nuts.
Somehow, coastlines/oceans seem to attract collectivists.
Its easy if you try
First thing I thought when I read the headline.
I always love to imagine America without leftist hellholes
Would they throw Hollywood in as a bonus?
Please don’t say that.
I have family in Newport Beach. Personally, I don’t care for California and definitely not LA. Talking to the leftys out there is an exercise in patience.
I do remind myself that not everyone has the intellectual rigor to navigate the ideological landscape and return sane.
Yep. I was thinking of calling Yoko Ono on the re-release with LA lyrics. But I got this horrible screech on the phone, and realized— she was singing. LOL.
So many lost wanderers and they latch onto “imagine”. Well it is easy— all you gotta do is go to Venezuela or Zimbabwe. Or our current WH occupants.
No more movies or television shows insulting my religion and my beliefs.
No more Mexican soccer fans running amok in the streets.
Many fewer Democrats in Congress.
No more Lakers
so....where’s the downside?
You can bet that massive amounts of federal monies will be sent to CA. Not enough to remedy the losses to the locals, but enough to put a hurt on the entire country. And LA will still be there, just changed.
The problem is that while La may go most of the popoulation will survive and come to a purple or red state near you.
as one who grew up in S.Cal, as to the title of the article, let me just say: “I can.”
The downside is that the entire US economy would start to shut down in less than 30 days
No more Clippers, too.
I propose that “Earthquake Evacuation “ route signs be posted (in another language) all with south pointing arrows .
I'm loving it.
Now if we could just throw out NYC.
Oh I can imagine. I really can. Without NYC and Washington DC too please.
Whoa. That’s weird. A few hours before this I had another premonition of the big one in CA... I get them every once in a while, probably due to watching one too many disaster flicks at the drive-in.
Psychologists call this “wishful thinking.”
Time for the Walter Huston dance.
Don’t be so quick to wish for this. All those displaced leftists will disperse to other areas.
Don’t know if you’ve ever been on a cruise ship.
I have. Once. It was a low-budget affair as we were all booked onto it for one of these self-indulgent ‘location’ wedddings (not ours).
Anyway, as you know the food is unlimited. It’s cheap, often foreign-sourced Brand X and usually tastes horrible but it’s ‘free.’ Did I mention it’s unlimited?
As you might expect, the prospect of free unlimited food had our larger passengers - let’s call them walking ballast tanks - literally pacing the deck anxiously waiting for the chain shutters to be rolled up and the buffet opened at 7 AM ship’s time. They resembled (overweight) tigers at the zoo except they were on the outside of the cage.
How do I know unless I was there at 7 myself? Fair question. I had completed my workout begun at 5:30 AM. Unfortunately between the food and the fellow passengers I left rather hungry still.
"We will put no impediment in your way and we will be at dockside bidding you a farewell as you set off into the sunset."
Yep, they're worse than termites.
Most. Overrated. Song. Ever.
What a nice thought. No LA. No Hollyweird. The People’s Republic of California tilts conservative almost overnight...
Any way we can send San Francisco along with it?
The morning of April 9th, 2014, in the A.M.
Remember, you read it here first.
.........Yep, they’re worse than termites.
dont’ get yer hopes up. we’ve been subjected to these predictions for at least the past 50 years...
I hope some politicians are visiting when this happens.
Nooooo Not NY, Boston, and DC. I have dear family members at all those locations. You can have Chicago and Calipornia.
Ok. Thanks for the heads up ;)
OK, change on that. I also love my nephew and his family in San Diego.
Never seen that. I have seen Mexican Lakers fans running amok.
Would the destruction of LA be a net gain or net loss for the US?
We have aborted more people by a factor of 20 fold than would be lost in such a massive disaster. We have done so while a major percent of elites in government, industry and academia have not only cheered but have worked fiercely to make sure as many women as possible who wanted to abort their children could abort them.
And there is ZERO care or concern on the part of these people for the economic implications to national earnings or what contribution these missing millions could have made to humanity and human progress. Worse, the more that government intrudes in everyday life, and the more people that government seduces into a life of dependency, the more that a citizen costs society rather than contributes to society.
Now I am to worry about the loss of a predominantly liberal city? What have liberals given humanity that is positive? Even when they produce art or entertainment, it is often to advance liberalism in overt and subtle ways.

Come to LA after Mexico wins a world cup game. In some parts you would think you were in Mexico.
